In journals, cutting review time isn’t a free lunch. Evidence says: structure > speed. •More rounds → more citations.•Author delays → fewer citations.•Smart speed works: fast tracks, cascading referee reports, firm deadlines.Reuse prior reports.

Forget 'risk.' Think 'fear.' Finance long defined risk as variance. Management scholars (March, Shapira) countered with more human truth: what matters is the fear of the downside. New research shows the market is driven by two fears: Fear of Loss & FOMO.

A 5,000-year study on tech's impact offers lesson for the AI era: Inequality is a choice, not an inevitability. Adoption of revolutionary technology—the plow—did NOT drive wealth gaps. Social structures can and did act as powerful "leveling mechanisms."

Kudos to UT Dallas for affirming faculty control over AI use. Since 2022, I’ve gone further: I expect students to experiment with AI and share results. The genie’s out; our job is to teach mastery, not avoidance. My policy’s here:

Is your science feeling a little. ✨poetic✨ lately? Study finds scientific papers are suddenly full of words like "delving," "pivotal," "intricate." The culprit? Our new coauthor, ChatGPT. Robots are writing, and they have a very specific vocabulary.

We may be a social species, but new study finds we all prefer to decide alone. Across the gamut of cultures, people prefer private deliberation or intuition over advice. Our preference for self-reliance seems a human regularity, not just a Western quirk.

Herbert Simon: “A wealth of information creates a poverty of attention.”. AI has given us both in spades—so much so that companies now return to in‑person interviews to cut AI fakery & rebuild trust. Sometimes, the fastest way forward is face‑to‑face.

Kudos to @UTDallas for new "freedom & responsibility" AI policy. It's the only path forward. My policy since '22: Don't just allow AI—expect students to experiment, then reflect. More work for me? Sure. Better learning for everyone? Absolutely. Excerpt

Yesterday’s seven-figure AI models are today’s free downloads, thanks to #OpenAI.This support key point from our @HarvardBiz article: For AI, the model is not the moat; the data flow is. So, are you selling powerful shovels—or owning the entire gold rush?

Network effects have dictated the success of technologies from the telephone to shopping platforms like Etsy, and AI tools such as ChatGPT are no exception. What is different, however, is how those...

Just started testing GPT‑5 (thanks for API access 🙏) alongside competitors in real research + teaching scenarios. First impressions: ⚡ speedy 🧠 Distinct output 🤝 Eager to propose next steps🚨 Still invents plausible‑but‑false facts & refs. Not just faster — different.

- 𝐒𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦 1: the fast, cheap hitter swinging at everything — quick on the bat, but prone to pop‑ups. - 𝐒𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦 2: the patient slugger, brought in for the tricky pitches — slower to the plate, but with real power. (Thx @JoshuaGans H/T Stanovich & West '00; Kahneman '03)

Asked GPT‑5 a slow pitch: “How many R’s in ‘blueberry’?” It whiffed. Then threw it a curveball — "How many R’s and B's in ‘blueberry’?" — and it crushed it out of the park. What’s going on? Likely a "mixture‑of‑experts" setup, mimicking human cognition: Thinking Fast & Slow.

Silicon Valley traded its beanbags and free sushi for GPUs and neural networks. The AI era is here—less "rest and vest," more "code and conquer." San Francisco is buzzing again, but don't expect a nap pod!

AI: making coders obsolete, one prompt at a time. If you thought the college essay was in trouble, wait until your spreadsheet starts grading itself. Time to brush up on math *and* Don Quixote!
