I want you to know that there are people that don’t just vibe code like a *little* bit, theres people that are attempting to make their whole livelihood programming whilst not actually knowing how to program. Thats a level of dedication to remaining ignorant that you gotta admire.

I have absolutely no problem paying, in fact I’d pay more than they’re asking for, but I wish it was open source so that I could contribute the features I want. I think some model like that could be workable moving forward.

This may be a me issue but I also don’t really understand how to give Tidewave web specific instructions like Claude code can with Tidewave really likes to git commit its work which I don’t really like and id like to configure it not to do that.

Learn about Claude Code, Anthropic's agentic coding tool that lives in your terminal and helps you turn ideas into code faster than ever before.

I’d also like to see some ui improvements, the Tidewave web sidebar is kinda small and I’d like to be able to toggle a bigger view where I can see what it’s doing. I also really like Claude codes planning mode. Something like that would be amazing to have.

I think Claude code is better at just doing stuff in the terminal. By virtue of being a terminal tool maybe or maybe it’s just it’s prompting, cause Tidewave web can run shell commands but Claude code seems to do it more readily and accurately.

Some points in Claude codes favor that id like to see Tidewave do/improve upon:. I don’t think it can use other mcps yet. I’m sure this is coming but in the meantime this is pretty important imho.

For ui work it can run scripts in the browser to test its work. This is the killer feature. You can approach this with playwright Mcp and Claude code but it’s not quite as robust, cause playwright is always kinda fussy in my experience.

It uses the Mcp tools more readily which is really nice. Sometimes you have to force Claude code to use tools. The ability to select elements in the web ui is pretty killer, but the real amazing part is using it for ui work.

It undoubtedly handles phoenix specific tasks more intelligently. I’m assuming this is just prompting though and with the right Claude code context you could probably get a lot better results.

Some comparisons to Claude code:. Tidewave web is faster. Claude code is notable for it being very intelligent but extremely slow.

Many have commented already but just throwing it out there if you haven’t tried it yet, Tidewave Web is fucking amazing. It’s potentially better than Claude code, which is a really high bar to clear.

So does anyone know why β€˜render_hook’ is actually called that? It’s used to test handle events but its name implies it has something to do with JS hooks.

Websockets which a lot of people use while building realtime communication (such as chatapps) are not scalable for large userbase. It can be good for small scale startups but large scale companies don't use it. Most of the times, either companies write their own custom protocols.
