That’s why Spark Chief Scientist Phil Duffy spoke with @CNN about why accurate public information about climate science matters:

The Environmental Protection Agency has altered and removed information from its web site that connected climate change to the burning of fossil fuels.

EPA’s revised its webpage on climate change to downplay the role of human emissions. That risks giving the public an incomplete and misleading picture of the science. At Spark, we believe good science = better decisions.

Today, we are releasing a roadmap that analyses emerging livestock enteric methane solutions—like feed additives, genetics, vaccines—and where targeted efforts are needed to scale them: 🔗 https://t.co/8tEJWnUht8

It’s time to unlock faster solutions for a key frontier in methane action: livestock. Livestock produce more methane than oil and gas, coal, or waste. But unlike most other sectors, we don’t have widely deployable technical solutions to reduce most livestock emissions yet.

Despite their potential to significantly accelerate warming, these warming-induced emissions are largely absent from climate models, carbon budgets, and global policies. That makes them a big blind spot in climate science & policy.

As the planet warms, ecosystems like permafrost, wetlands, forests, and soils are expected to release more GHGs—while their capacity to absorb them is weakening.

We are inviting the land surface modeling community to participate in a new Warming-Induced Greenhouse Gas Emissions Model Intercomparison Project (WIE-MIP) and launching a grant program to provide resources to modeling teams

🌍 At #ClimateWeekNYC, we co-hosted a methane innovation workshop with @SparkClimate. Methane is 30% of today’s warming—but big gaps remain for livestock & natural emissions. 🔥 That’s why we’re building Mission Methane, our next climate prize, and raising funding to close
