It applies to non-creative things too. The walls are part stripped in my bathroom because I felt I could do it all myself, but I lost interest half way, so now it's in a state, when I could've saved myself the energy getting a professional in. Hubris or deflection?

And so as a result I do neither, and end up with no art on my walls. And this applies to everything. I could do A, but I COULD do B, but I won't, so I shan't. And as a result I end up with nothing. Is there a term for this kind of cognitive dissonance?
