"What's that pink stuff?" You're seeing the Sun's chromosphere. The large structure at the bottom is called a prominence - a loop of plasma jotting out from the solar surface, shaped by the Sun's magnetic field. They're so large, you could fit an entire Earth or two within them!

At long last, here's my timelapse of the stunning Ada, OK supercell on 09-23-2023. This was the most beautiful storm I have ever witnessed in my years of chasing. The storm had it all: structure spinning like a top, lightning barrages, starry skies, sprites, etc. A total dream.🥹

I know it to be true, and I've witnessed it twice now, but I still can't get over the fact that the Moon is the *perfect* angular size for it to be able to juuust barely block out the photosphere of the Sun while keeping the chromosphere visible. Cosmic perfection.

UNBELIEVABLE footage of the Ruang volcano erupting in Indonesia. It just had an extremely powerful eruption with ash clouds potentially punching into the stratosphere at 19,000 meters. A tsunami warning is also now in effect due to the powerful blast.

The way the fire from the explosion gets pulled up into the storm, the fact that the heat from it seems to cause the tornado to become temporarily non-condensed, and the power everywhere going out when it happens...up there for wildest video of the year.

Last night's LP supercell near Ada, OK put on one of the best shows I have ever witnessed. The structure spun like a top, positive CGs barraged the landscape, and stars shone in the distance. A tornado warning was issued at this time (see possible funnel under the meso).

Timelapse of the INCREDIBLE supercell near Etowah, OK on April 19.
In just 40 mins, from ~8:30 - 9:10 p.m., this storm produced five tornadoes (w/ 2 EF2s, and an EF3), including two sets of twins. Some are visible here. What a remarkable beast in the night.

I managed to pull out detail of the Lunar surface, with darker maria distinct among the highlands! This is a single exposure that also captures the Sun's remarkable, extensive corona. This Universe is indescribably beautiful; I am so grateful to be able to witness these things.

Following the trend of earthquakes, the dike seems to cross through Gindavik and extend offshore. This is a large-scale event associated with much more deformation than in the three previous eruptions, and magma is now close to the surface (~1.5 km depth vs 5 km yesterday).

This is amazing to watch! At 25s, you see the activity near Blue Lagoon, where the sill was located. Then, by 30s, you see the quakes shift east. There, the magma likely found a weakness in the rock, because the seismic activity quickly acceleration in both directions, NE and SW.
