For this, the Italian authorities have now unlawfully detained our rescue ship Humanity 1 for 20 days and fined us €10,000. This is completely unacceptable – we are taking legal action. 2/3

❌ No way! We will not collaborate with anyone who uses violence against refugees and breaks human rights. As a result, we have suspended all operational communication with the Libyan authorities, in accordance with international law and together with the #JusticeFleet. 1/3

Libyan units such as the so-called Libyan Coast Guard abuse and even kill people on the move, and fire on humanitarian ships – without consequences. They are even rewarded by the EU and its member states with financing, training, and patrol boats. 3/4
