It's also curious that aside from the two superminority validators that consistently seem to be build much slower than everyone else, the other slowest nodes are also pretty consistent across epochs. The slot time target used to be 400ms, but they are still >10% slower.

It's curious that following a 4 block skip, a validator's block time often appears to be (average slot time * 5). I suspect this may be a quirk of how Firedancer tracks block times - time since last (non skipped) block completed?. Regardless, all individual validator stats use

Typically Agave clients and derivatives (Jito, Paladin etc) tend to pack blocks a little faster, while Firedancer nodes average a touch over 400ms - all averages are weighted by number of slots.

One surprise for me is that the geo location of a node doesn't seem to have an obvious impact on its average block time. Note how nodes in Asia, South Africa and South America are achieving similar performance to those in central Europe!

There seem to be two large, consistent outliers on this chart. Why stake with Galaxy or Kiln when they are more than 1.5x slower at processing your transactions vs the network median? 🤯. Beats me. All this + more on our new block time dashboard!
