Abuse apologia is something society seriously needs to be educated on. It feels like a cultural pandemic online and it should be taught in schools alongside the dangers of social media. Parasocialism is out of control.
Criticism of your fav ≠ personal attack towards you. So many fans project themselves hard onto a character to a point any criticism on the character feels like an attack on them by extension and they can't take it. This is why abuse apologia is so normalized in fandoms.
