On behalf of Kansas City, congratulations to our students, families, teachers, and school leaders. Thank you Dr. Bedell and the KCPS Board of Directors. We look forward to more achievements for our learners and our community ahead.

Police in Virginia say the discovery of four bodies at two different locations in the state are the work of a serial killer who used a shopping cart to transport his victims’ bodies after meeting them on dating sites: https://t.co/VeebTrCA2j

From @KCUR: "(KCPS) said some 1,500 students have already weighed in on how they’d like to see their schools improve: more fine arts; foreign languages other than French and Spanish; and added support for peers — something that surprised and touched district officials." 1/

We spent time testifying to the state legislature today regarding school funding and school choice in Missouri. Did you know KCPS outperforms almost half of the charter schools in Kansas City? We do. We are on the rise - join us in the pursuit of achievement for all KCPS kids.

I totally agree and fully support Dr. Grier’s position on this matter!!
If Mayors, Governors, and President Biden want ALL school age children back in school ‘right now,’ immediately provide Covid-19 vaccine for all teachers and educational staff. Treat educators with the respect they deserve.

Senator, those of us here in Missouri aren’t concerned about Pennsylvania. We’re worried about our families, our communities, our health. Stop the charade. It’s gone on too long. It’s impacted lives today. It’s tearing apart our country.

Wondering whether you should require students to turn on their videos during virtual class meetings? Here's an infographic to help you rethink that idea #remoteteaching #edtech #isteten #remotelearning

We're recommending that classes start on Sept. 8 with distance learning, and then we move to different phases of in-person learning over time if it's safe to do so. Our goal is to be back at 100 percent in-person learning. We miss seeing our students in our school buildings!

What most of us want to say
.@BetsyDeVosED you have no plan. Teachers, kids and parents are fearing for their lives. You point to a private sector that has put profits over people and claimed the lives of thousands of essential workers. I wouldn’t trust you to care for a house plant let alone my child.

And this is why. Note. Mask rule applies to indoor establishments where you’re not keeping six feet of social distance. Not that hard of a rule to roll with. We just want to keep you and all around you safe.

Wearing a mask or face covering can be uncomfortable, but this is a necessary step to ensure we can save lives and keep our economy open. We wear masks to protect our loved ones, those around us, and their loved ones. Mayor Lucas’s updated Order goes into effect on Monday. #KCMO
