I feel so bad for junior web developers and engineers looking for a job.
I've been receiving messages on LinkedIn for job openings and every time I ask if they have an opening for juniors, they say no.
Seems like the current market wants experience and not willing to train.
Building your network will improve your chances of getting a job and finding amazing like minded friends.
Say hi and tell us about yourself. Let's make some life changing connections!
Is CSS hard to learn? Yes!
Is JavaScript hard to learn? Yes!
Is learning something you have 0 experience in hard? Yes!
If you're feeling like giving up on your development journey, try not to. It's ok to take a break if you need. Learning is apart of the process.
I've been seeing a lot of 100devs mentioning their struggles with CSS. Would it help if I did a livestream of how I think about the solution and implement a design into code?
One of my first developer jobs I had no business applying for. They were looking for a C# Backend developer with experience. I had none and I applied anyway. In my cover letter, I wrote that I could learn and provide Frontend experience.
I was hired as their first and only…
Find an Aspiring Developer's account that has less than 500 followers. Then, go like and post an encouraging comment in one of their recent tweets. Let's uplift the Tech Twitter community today!
Let me try to help you NETWORK.
Tell us things about yourself, so I can help connection you with like-minded people.
• What was your previous career
• What technologies you are learning
• What you hope to gain from Twitter
• Your favorite hobbies
• Your goal(s)
I came onto Tech Twitter to help others in Development, Encouragement, Motivation, etc. If you're feeling like you don't belong, you do! Finding the sense of belonging is tough sometimes. In this thread, let's try to make some awesome connections that will last a lifetime. 👋
I didn't get a chance to celebrate my new role as a Senior Web Developer with
@Microsoft
on here.
It's been about 4 months, and it's been great. There's challenges, leadership opportunities, and management cares for you as a human being from the top down.
CSS Tip //
I've worked with projects that have consistent primary, secondary, and tertiary color levels. Instead of replacing the color variables, create generic variables that can be overridden instead. Easier to understand and great for theming.
As a no so Junior Web Developer or Engineer anymore, what is 1 thing you wish you knew early on in your career that may help Aspiring Developers learn from?
As a Web Developer, you don't need to code every day. If you're feeling like you're doing too much, take a break today. Burnout creeps up, and it stresses out your entire day.
Go do something you enjoy. Allow your brain to relax and digest the things you learned this week.
The one point none of us had pointed out is that ChatGPT can add more Junior Devs. ChatGPT can complete more task meaning we can build features faster. But we need devs to test and confirm things actually work.
If your company is hiring Junior Developer(s), post a comment and share a little of what you're looking for. I know a lot of Aspiring Developers looking for an opportunity.
Mentoring can shortcut your route to success.
If you need a development mentor, introduce yourself and what technologies you're looking to be mentored in. I'm hoping this will create some life changing connections!
If you're looking for a Developer mentor, what are somethings you'd want from being mentored?
1:1 sessions?
Peer programming?
Knowledge dump?
Maybe you'd rather do it as a group?
Let me know, I'm considering taking on a few mentees.
If you're looking for a mentor or willing to mentor someone in Web Development or Software Engineering, post a comment with some context about you and what you're looking for.
#CyberMentoringMonday
One thing I wish I had when I first started web development was a good mentor. I had a few people guide me and direct me, but not a true mentor. You can do it on your own, but if you had a good mentor, they'd get you to your goals 100 times faster.
Aspiring and Junior Developers, now is your chance to ask any questions you may have. My fellow Senior Developers and I will do our best to answer your questions.
You know that question that you've pulled your hair out about? Ask that one.
It's time to give back! Find someone with under 323 followers to give them a like and comment on one of their tweets.
If you have <323 followers, say hi!
Nothing better than some encouragement as we go into the weekend.
If you're looking to for a Mentor, please introduce yourself and what kind of mentorship you're looking for. Hopefully someone will chime in and help you out.
Last time we did a mentor post, many people found a mentor. Let's do another round!
Developing is difficult.
It's even more difficult when one of your loved ones pass away. My beloved grandma passed today. It's been a struggle to cope with this and code at the same time. Might take some time away.
If you feel lost reading Eloquent JavaScript, it's ok! I have 15 years of experience, and I'm reading it for the first time. If I was reading this book during my first year of learning how to code, I'd be absolutely lost.
If you have any questions about what you're reading, ask.
Just a reminder, DO NOT compare yourself to someone else. This is your own journey, it's not a race to see who becomes a Junior Developer first or whom will get a promotion first.
I've seen a few people express this, and wanted to remind you that it's ok to go at your own pace.
I learned that an aspiring web developer, who made a career change, felt like giving up after years of learning.
DO NOT give up. Your journey is not like anyone else's. Through the success you see from others, they've had their own ups and downs too. Head up, keeping learning!
It's another Friday portfolio review day! Post your url and I'll provide honest feedback for you. If you're a junior developer or just looking for a new job, all are welcomed.
If you have under 512 followers, say hi!
Introduce yourself, what you're working on, and 1 favorite food dish. Let my network get to know you and make some life changing connections.
CSS Tip //
Mobile-first development renders the HTML and CSS to work on mobile devices without any media queries.
It's easier to manipulate the desktop screen because you have more real estate to work with. Also, if the user is on a slow connection, they render less code.
5 digit club!
I never imagined that I would have this many followers. I became active on Twitter because I was saw too much click bait content and misdirection. I hope my honesty, knowledge, and sarcasm has helped you in someway.

CSS TIP //
I saw many talking about responsive web development (RWD), and I wanted to give a tip. When setting a fixed width on an element, use `max-width` instead of `width`. It will gracefully make it fluid if the breakpoint is below the `max-width`.
@daboigbae
The one on the right first. Timebox yourself take enough time to allow your brain to learn. After time is up, ping your Senior for help. But please be detailed on what you've tried, and where you're at while reaching out.
You don't need to jump into React right away if you're new to Development. Start small. Build websites with plain HTML, CSS, and no JavaScript if you have to. It's ok to take baby steps to learn.
Learn at your own speed.
If you have less than 423 followers, say hi! Tell us about yourself as well.
I don't get to see smaller accounts on my timeline anymore because of the Twitter Algorithm. I enjoy seeing what others are doing and learning of their successes. Please share!
Would you be interested in a YouTube episode called Junior Developer Tech-Over”?
We would review a Junior Developer's resume, portfolio, and conduct mock interviews to prepare them to land a job in tech. A makeover, but for Aspiring Developers.
As an Aspiring Developer, why should I hire you?
What makes you unique?
Why should I give you a chance?
How do you define success?
*I'm hoping recruiters and hiring managers find this thread and give opportunities to those who post.

Why do Junior Developers disappear from Twitter after landing a job? It's the same reason why many experienced Developer's aren't on here.
Does that mean I have no life? 😂
What is today? It's Portfolio Review Friday!
Calling all web developers who want their personal portfolios reviewed. I'll do my best to provide honest and actionable feedback.
Post a link and provide some context of who you are and what kind of role you're looking for.
Guess what day it is?
It's Portfolio Review Friday!
Calling all junior and aspiring web developers!
Drop a link and some context of who you are and what roles you're looking for in the comments. This will help me provide honest actionable feedback by the weekend.
Experienced Developers and Engineers, any words of advise or encouragement for the Junior Developers struggling to land their first tech job?
There are so many Junior Developers on Twitter working their butts off to get an opportunity, but sometimes with no success.
We're delighted to announce our upcoming Frontend Mentor Hiring platform! 🎉
If you want to discover junior front-end devs with hands-on experience building projects, this could be perfect for you!
Our mission will be to connect great companies with our incredible community 👇
We often only share about our successes, but not our failures.
Today, I felt like a failure. Many issues resurfaced from the feature I worked on, rejection, and the feeling that I don't have enough time in the day to accomplish all the things I want to.
Remember when you tweeted something and receive 0 likes? It felt like being picked last on a team.
Go make someone's day who has less than 228 followers by liking and commenting on their tweet.
Last day of the month, make someone feel like they weren't picked last today.
Some new developers are saying they don't have a network or community. Let me remind you, we are your community.
WE are here to help you.
WE are community.
Stronger together.
Gentle reminder that you are good enough!
Not just good enough, you have the skills and talent to be who you want to be. Rough patches make us relish the greatness that's coming our way. Now, let's go get it!
Remember when your tweets received 0 likes and/or 0 comments? Yeah... we've all been there.
Give back by liking and commenting to someone's tweet that doesn't have many followers.
Hey Aspiring Developers, it's normal to feel the pressure to learn quickly. Know this, it's a marathon and not a sprint.
All it takes is 1 person to believe in you. I believe in you! Work hard, don't quit, and give it all you've got. Tech Twitter's got your back. Let's go!
@shashiwhocodes
I think a lot of us maybe struggle with a realistic timeline for learning - I come across tweets fairly regularly of newbies feeling like they aren’t cut out for programming because they aren’t able to pick up a language “fast enough”.
Any input on that? 👀
Good morning, new followers. Seems like many of you came from
