Just saw an entry-level help desk specialist position at a GovTech company. It was remote, starting salary was $81,500 and they were sponsoring clearances but the position is closed now.
Seeing black women thrive in tech is so inspiring & makes me go even harder. 🥹 I’ve always aspired to have a luxury lifestyle & to be financially free but never knew how I was going to get there. Y’all are killing it and open my eyes to new possibilities every day!! 🫶🏽
@ChanginWithTime
There’s no specific time frame to become one. It’s all about your skill set, studying, and the time you put into the job hunt + networking. Everyone’s path is different. I’ve seen people who it took years for and for some they were able to get into a role like this in 3-6 months.
So the DoD career fair is set up like a virtual fair with different booths. It includes information about the agency, open roles, and allows you to chat with someone about the open roles. It’s very interactive and doesn’t require video. I like this!
An application I put in yesterday for a Sys Admin position was forwarded for further consideration. 🥹🤞🏽 A small win. Hope I get to an actual interview.
@ShadTheGoddd
It was actually reposted from 2 weeks ago and only has 70 applicants on LinkedIn. I’m sure on their actual website that job listing going crazy .
Just finished this Azure Fundamentals learning path on Microsoft Learn. It feels like I just took a crash course in cloud computing. I learned so much and Azure is truly a beast!
I have my Sec+ exam in 10 days. I’m hella nervous, still getting my studying and practice in. 😅🤞🏽The way I’ve been zoned in is crazy. Didn’t know I had it in me.
I will never again allow myself to stay in a relationship where I don’t feel appreciated. Too much time is spent sometimes with people who do not deserve us in the manner we allow them to and I can’t accept anything less that feeling like my person adores me.
@AvannaTheCEO
So accurate. I’m almost 6 months into this journey and I don’t think I really knew all that I was signing up for initially. I’m glad I was made aware from the beginning that this was a real time commitment. 🤣😭
There’s really companies out here paying $150k to $300k per year. Free food and drinks every day. Full benefits. Flexible PTO & sick days. Give you a company card for flights, rides & Uber eats. & then provide all expense paid trips for all employees for holidays.
The success I’m trying to reach is terrifying and A LOT of work but delusion keeps me going. 🤩🤣 My determination in the last few months and leaps of faith are helping me gain confidence in my ability to succeed. 🤞🏽 It’s slowly feeling real that I CAN do what I set my mind to.
Listen to this NEW message, please share. It’s time for us to REBRAND OUR CONFIDENCE.
When we lack confidence it’s holding us back from new opportunities and dreaming bigger.
I enjoyed the Cyber skills challenge so much that I decided to sign up for the
@USCyberGames
🙌🏽🥳 It’s open to people of all skill levels and it’s not too late to register. They have a Beginner’s Game Room which is where I’ll be.
#USCyberGames
Thennn knowing some of yall are also single moms and being able to see how you provide amazing lifestyles for your kids?? 😭😭😭 It was exactly what I needed to see these last few months as I’ve been going through some really difficult transitions in my life.
Don’t underestimate the power of what you can get done in an hour. I’ve been slacking on my studying for a while and today I picked back up. I spent 2 hours today studying. One before work and one before starting my wind down routine. It feels good to start again. 🥹
@Otunba_jr
TryHackMe, HackTheBox, &
@TCMSecurity
all have courses for teaching people skills in Security. For certs, Security+ and CCNA or Network+ are great starting places but certs are not necessarily required.
I’ve got to stop being such a loner and trying to figure things out on my own bc I could probably be further. 😭 I have a mentor group that I’m apart of and we meet monthly. I keep getting in my head about why I don’t need this group but really it takes me out of my comfort zone.
@TarkusHands
From the comments, a lot of people who have a TS clearance are veterans. I would look for roles sponsoring a security clearance. Here’s how you can find those.
@ThaJuiceIsBlack
You can find them on , , and on the websites of the companies. Booz Allen has roles where they sponsor clearances.
The job description will say "must have the ability to obtain a security clearance."
Just got off a Salesforce training at work for another one of our companies. I was supposed to begin using Salesforce 6 months after I was hired on with my company. I’ve been here 2 years and they still are having trouble with integration. 🫠
Felt! I have never been this locked in on a career choice before. Every time I’m studying I actually enjoy learning and hands on activities are fun for me. 🥹 This is something I can see my self doing long term.
Whoever said to make your vision board a Pinterest board + create a widget for your Home Screen…. THANK YOU. 😭 The best idea ever. 🥹✨The daily in your face motivation is so amazing.
I did my hair last night and woke up with my whole bonnet and scarf on the floor. 😭 They literally walked off my head. Thankfully, I laid this hair so good not a hair was out of place.
@secretnetptune
Microsoft has free training on their site and it has everything you need to know about the basics of Azure. I also took their free practice exam twice to get an idea of the questions on the exam and the practice exam was more difficult to me than the real one.
I can’t allow myself to get down about this job market because my self-sabotage will take over so quickly. I have to keep faith that things will work out to keep moving forward. I know what I want and I’m not stopping until I get there. 😌
I posted that role to let people know there are roles out there like that, & to share for those who met the requirements. EYE didn’t actually apply to the role, I was doing research. 🤣 I have seen jobs listing similar requirements on other sites without the need for a TS/SCI.
I’m still so pissed that my company fired half of our support team, then doubled the work load of us remaining support reps. As we’re nearing our busier months the work load feels impossible. 🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲
Some general things I plan on learning over the remainder of this year in no particular order:
Networking
Linux (especially Red Hat)
Python
Splunk
Wireshark
Pentesting
My studying is everywhere. 😭 I’m just embracing atp. It’s all related to security though so that has to count for something! I’m not just doing anything. 🤣
Having a fully developed frontal lobe is really changing my life. I can feel that I’m not the same person and that the bullshit I’ve let slide when it comes to me before isn’t happening anymore.

It’s lead by a woman who has been in cyber for 6 years and has amazing experience. It’s a group of about 6-10 of us all at different points in the cybersecurity journey. They are all so funny and sweet. My self sabotage has been working but I’m trying to work harder. 😫
Learned about Web App, OS, and Network Security on TryHackMe today. I‘be been dragging my feet on starting the SOC Analyst Level 1 path, nerves I guess? 😭 But I enrolled and I’m gonna start that tomorrow.
@selftaughtech
Thank you! I want to learn more about security and compliance within Azure so I’ll probably dive into that soon. ☺️ I was continuously surprised and amazed as I was going through the learning path. It makes even more sense why Microsoft is respected as an industry leader.
I said I was taking a break tonight from career related things but I’m definitely going to be working on learning Active Directory with these 2 VMs in Azure. I have this video series on YT that I’m working through.
“45% of Black women admit to avoiding exercise to keep their hairstyles intact.”
Oh Gym Shark did their big one with those sweat diffusing headbands!
On top of this being culturally representative, they have everyone on here looking warm, glossed up & gorgeous! 😍
@Gymshark
I follow a lot of people in tech, fitness, motivational, and spiritual. Every time I open my news feed it's something enjoy watching. You control what you engage in. Anything that's negative or not my cup of tea I quickly scroll past it.
Trying to switch careers as a single mother with a late job schedule is hard asf. I’m just taking it day by day. I remind myself as long as I do a little towards my goals eventually I’ll get where I want to be. 😭
I didn’t attend last month’s call and decided to join today which was very worth it. We talked on the call about challenges some people were facing in their roles and also a lot about the struggle of trying to break into the industry with different solutions to try.
Im not gonna lie the ISC2 marketing team works hard bc I see the CC cert every freaking where. 😭😭😭😭😭😭 So many companies announcing partnerships and the constant tweets announcing it as if it’s new.
People do not talk about the free courses in the Cisco website enough. A free 70 hour ethical hacker course? A 27 hour network defense course? I’m glad I hopped on my computer to get some practice in today.
Up at 5 am just crying my eyes out because I made it out the storm and I didn’t think that I would. Last year was so devastating and I was so broken. But God.
@XiotheNinja
I’m still very new to cyber but I have heard that Python is easier to learn when it comes to coding. I have seen both of them on job descriptions so knowing at least one will be helpful. When I get to the stage of learning coding I’m going to be starting with Python!
I’m excited to move whenever that time comes. I’ve always known that I wanted to settle down in this specific area and just feel like this move will allow me to thrive in life no matter what I decide to do.
@ThaJuiceIsBlack
For clearance jobs, you have to have a clearance to create an account and view their full site. If you do a Google search for “security clearance jobs” you can view the page of job listings.
@MkyaGonza
Woww! And same here. I was expecting to be able to actually understand the easy level of challenges and was shook when that was not the case. 💀
I’ve been trying hard not to get caught up in collecting certs and have been focused on courses with labs for this reason. Reading is cool but you gotta get in the field fr!
