Er no, @BBCNews - that would be a heart attack. Heart attacks can cause cardiac arrest, but people in cardiac arrest are a bit too unconscious to describe those symptoms. Try this explainer from the BHF: <>

Still pondering implications of 1st report from @covidinquiryuk (and need to re-read it slowly). initial thoughts keep returning to how to build appropriate adaptability into a system. One key lesson? Recognise when a plan no longer covers the situation on the ground.

We also find regions that could allow 'flu to control which proteins it is making as part of its lifecycle, and find that avian 'flu strains have a constrained region that may relate to a truncated protein variant. 5/7.

One of the packaging regions we found looks variable in a way that may affect packaging compatibility of some segments - so may impact how easily virus segments can reassort - with implications for how pandemics can occur (but will need work++ to check/understand this). 4/7.

Many regions we identified contain packaging signals - RNA motifs important for ensuring 'flu has all segments of its genetic code in a virus particle. We got more information on how these are likely to look, and propose why previous mutation experiments broke the signals. 3/7.

We applied a computational method for predicting evolutionary constraint in RNA viruses to a large dataset of 'flu A viruses - updating a previous analysis with new methodology and more sequences analysed. 2/7.

New paper! With Emma Beniston. Some bits of the 'flu A genome are subject to more constraint than others - which bits, and what can we learn about the virus from them?. 🧵1/7

Reminder from a clinical virologist dealing with returning travellers: non-domestic animals may not appreciate attempts at petting, and places with non-domestic cats etc may have increased rabies risk. Ideally avoid, but if bitten/scratched, seek advice re. rabies prevention. 1/2.
