Totally agree, and we all know that teaching and formative assessment are integrated by any reflective practitioner.
Lots of talk at the moment about 'assessment' which is actually about exams & testing. As I've been promoting formative assessment in music education & elsewhere for many years this grates somewhat. So quick reminder, all exams are assessments, but not all assessments are exams!.

Brilliant thread, deeply relevant to the teaching and learning of improvisation in music. Cognitive Load Theory attracts criticism amongst some music educators but it is a function of improvisation. Worth knowing the science amongst/within the art.
