After just one day of organizing, about 90% of our union walked out today in protest of management's devastating layoffs proposal and multiple unfair labor practices. We are so thankful for the solidarity shown to us during this historic work stoppage. ✊ 📸 @jaylclendenin

A lot of people decided they wanted to stake their reputation on denying this story without doing any of the work necessary to gather the evidence to support their conclusions.
The Jerusalem Post can now confirm based on verified photos of the bodies that the reports of babies being burnt and decapitated in Hamas's assault on Kfar Aza are correct. May their memory be a blessing. https://t.co/LaVs1aXR50

Something interesting(?) seems to be a trend: So many Palestinian friends, every Palestinian I know that I am speaking with, are checking in. Asking how my family/myself is. Condemning Hamas' atrocities. The only ones "defending" it seem to be "friends" in Western countries 👀

I always wonder -- what "urgent action" will be needed, and if you live in a basement apartment, what are you supposed to do? Is the assumption that everybody has another place to stay until Saturday?
⚠️ Urgent action may be needed to protect lives and property. No significant winds or thunderstorms are forecast.

We need to stop depicting mobility aids as a sign/symbol of inability to be or do something. My mobility aids aren't a sign I'm incapable of doing a job or living a full life. They give me the opportunity to do my job, to live a full life.

For years, researchers say it was difficult to study health inequities that people with disabilities experience, because the way this population was classified by the NIH limited access to funding. Now, that's changed: https://t.co/sjs2yQywcV

The designation as a “health disparity population” allows for more funding and research into the health equity barriers disabled people face.

Fahrenheit 451 was never my favorite Bradbury/dystopian fiction because it felt a little too blunt, too far-fetched in its metaphor— the state deploying high-tech 'firemen' to burn books to maintain its censorship regime? A bit on the nose. Currently reevaluating that assessment
Missouri Republicans at a literal book burning. They think flamethrowers should be legal but history books should be destroyed. https://t.co/ayCwt3gtyU

RIP CJ. One of the best in the field. You taught me so much, but mostly, to take care of the newbies. See ya on the next one.

It's time to finish the contract, @DrPatSoonShiong Your family is committed to the L.A. Times. So is mine. And my family's growing.
@DrPatSoonShiong says his family is committed to the L.A. Times for the next 100 years. A new contract would help reinforce that commitment to our future — one that we and our families are proud to be part of.

These videos about being a LAT parent were shot when I got back from mat leave. I was so busy juggling new roles that I couldn’t chime in. I will here: Our new contract isn’t about me. It’s about my kid + my ability to provide for her amid inflation + the rising cost of living ✊🏽

“Moms of sick, disabled,or neurodivergent kids all have increased stress levels that make them more prone to mom rage,” Dubin observes." Yea, no. I was a sick &♿️ kid. Now I'm a sick & ♿️mom. "Mom Rage" is not a stress response to ♿️, it's an expression of hatred, shame & disgust

So I was in a restaurant when some random stranger came up to me, put her hand on my wheelchair and then said “go on then, tell me why you’re in the wheelchair.” Like why oh why would you expect me to tell someone my PRIVATE medical history because I’m in a wheelchair? (1/2)

when people give me shit about masking — a not infrequent occurrence — I tell them I've got little kids and am a walking reservoir for hand foot and mouth
Today, an electrician gladly donned the N95 mask I offered, only to later reveal that homeowners drove him to unmask! The absurdity of protective gear becoming a faux pas is baffling. Kudos to the mask-wearing champions who remain undeterred. I see you, I’m with you.
