I wrote the lyrics to this song about my doggie whose name is Freddie and how brave he is and then had AI make it into a real song. I play it for him and he loves it. I know I am posting something embarrassing but it’s funny so here it is.

Now instead of Obama, a parent who gives us the freedom to rebel precisely because they care about our legitimate rebellion, we have a …look it’s an attempt to establish fascism in America and globally …that’s not a metaphor. Those are just the stakes. This moment is too real.

I feel bad for young rebels coming of age in the midst of this paradox. When I was in college we got to first elect Obama then protest Obama, knowing that he was like a parent who gave us unconditional love who we could rebel against yet still depend on taking care of us.

It’s an uncomfortable position for a Leftist to defend the old status quo of liberal democracy. It might be psychologically impossible for some with an identity based on rebellion. It’s completely unsatisfying for me. But it is our historical duty to defend old liberal democracy.

There was a point the last few years where I myself thought we needed to make people realize this rightwing Supreme Court was illegitimate, Republican activists in robes. But now what we need is for the Roberts Supreme Court to reign in Trump and for its decisions to be followed.

For decades the Left rightfully critiqued inherently conservative organizations like the FBI and the CIA that spied on Americans and prosecuted poor people unjustly. Now what we need is for these institutions to uphold the principles of law they are supposed to protect.

We saw the Left rightly decry the unspeakable human rights abuses in Gaza funded by the American government, until recently enabled by Democrats. Yet these Democrats’ defeat ushered in a far worse Trump regime that will allow for total ethnic cleansing of Palestinians.

If Putin takes Ukraine and slowly advances fascism in parts of Europe, democracy loses ground and the Left depends on democracy. So leftists’ best bet is to empower the traditional pro-war foreign policy establishment in Washington and demand more funds for military contractors.

We’re in a really weird historical for the Left, which always called for revolutionary change. Or at least “big structural reforms,” as Elizabeth Warren used to say. But a previously unthinkable Right has gained power & defending the old status quo is the Left’s best strategy.

Am I the only one who thinks British accents are just cheesy?. Like when you are watching a show, it’s like, I get it — you are a wizard who also solves crimes. But can’t you just speak English like normal people?.
