Rebranding this account for now to try and get round Elon’s repurposing of this cursed website as a fascist propaganda machine. Will still post in a personal capacity but if football content puts you off I’m less myopic here:

This was the moment I fell in love. No good reason for doing it, no reaction having done it, only emotional response to anything all afternoon, absolute king shit. #SaintsFC
Tonda Eckert on his booking: "You know what it's like when you play football. I'm not proud of it and it was not my intention, but it was instinct. The ball landed and my right foot told me to go for it. It won't happen again!" #saintsfc @AlfieHouseEcho

Love this clip from Asad Haider on how the criticisms his book received led him to engage in a self-critique. This was from a symposium we hosted on one of Asad's heroes Sylvain Lazarus in 2020.

This #SaintsFC team are far too exciting altogether, not to my taste at all. Bring back Claude Puel.

This is a real kick in the guts. Such a clear and clarifying thinker and writer. Much less important ofc but I loved his droll style of anecdotal writing. He had this way of conveying that someone was being a bit of a tit with a sort of detached incredulity.
Just floored to hear of Asad Haider’s passing. A brilliant mind who still had so much to offer, such a huge loss.

In 1976 11 million people tuned in to watch Jack Shepherd, who died in late November, star as Labour MP Bill Brand attempting, often unsuccessfully, to resist imprisonment in "the metallic logic of social democracy". @Malaiseforever wrote on the series.

by Tom Blackburn // Four decades on from its debut, Trevor Griffiths' newly-relevant 'Bill Brand' remains a work of unusual political rigour and depth.

Amazing that- 30+ years on from that Diana Ross penalty- if you mix football with America you still get something completely fucking mad

Really pleased for Donald, and this will go a long way in making FIFA look less corrupt.

Pay carers properly then you snidey little opportunist
Social care isn’t just ‘wiping someone’s bum’. It is a hard, rewarding, skilled professional job. That’s why we’re delivering the first ever fair pay agreement in social care and building a care profession. This is immigration as exploitation 👇🏻 https://t.co/6LqPHNXJer

On a day when there’s been a big need over who is it isn’t an economist, here’s an interview with someone who definitely is an economist!
The left definitely should be thinking about this, and Mary Robertson definitely has been! We asked the former Head of Economic Policy for the Labour Party about public ownership, whether governments can take on the bond markets, and much, much more. https://t.co/TL5c0JV9G3

It’s probably not possible for one person to be an expert in every aspect of politics, so it’s vital that we have good faith conversations (so probably not On Here!) in which we’re not talking past each other, using wonky academic language or just mugging each other off.

It’s good to talk about stuff, but it’s also very important to listen to people who’ve done more reading than we have.

Thanks to @tamhauyu and Robert Magowan of @GreensOrganise for such a thorough account of what it’s like to be a socialist active in the Green Party.
Episode 8: Greens Organise on socialist organising in the Green Party. Are their factions in the Green Party? Is it a socialist party now? And what does that even mean? https://t.co/Q9DUYClWBU

@joecguinan Not sure if this is a subtweet aimed at me, but clearly not my intent. Zarah was asked which 3 policies YP should adopt to appeal to the wider public, and she said “we need to nationalise the entire economy” and a wealth tax. I asked her to unpack this, because I wanted to know
