@DiaryofaSickGrl Urinary Tract Infections. Why? The current 77+ year old causes, treatments/guidelines are based entirely on Assumption, Zero Science, & it’s all been debunked! These outdated guidelines are Harmful to just about everyone suffering - especially kids & the elderly. #cUTI

Bold statement based on a Systematic review! People with poor control Diabetes and Elderly do not present with UTI pain; but have pyuria, smelly urine, leaks, falls and worsening medical condition. Treating =clinical improvement. Urosepsis kills. not treating is not an option!

Some become chronic after a single episode with residual symptoms and flares which persist afterwards. Often, this is because it has not been treated for long enough in the first place. Other patients recurrent uti with no symptoms in between then chronic.

HRT treats CUTI? HRT - Systemic and vaginal has a role in treating Urogenital atrophy, Vasomotor and other symptoms of menopause so let's not confuse this as a cure for CUTI! I have seen Men and Women & Kids (2-99 years) in my clinical practice with CUTI- Do we put all on HRT?

Elephant in the room that needs addressing: Inadequate treatment of Index UTI, shorter courses (no evidence for less is more!), cycling, LD prophylaxis, no follow up appt to pick up recurrences (up to 30%), reliance on outdated testing and dismissal of symptoms with terminology!
