I can’t believe that guy said Hawkeye would take out Professor X and Black Widow would handle Wolverine. I’m not even gonna mention the fact that Tony is out there with Magneto and I love Tony… but sure Avengers gonna win.
To be silent is to be complicit.
Black lives matter.
We have a platform, and we have a duty to our Black members, employees, creators and talent to speak up.
@chaoticblkgirl
It was crazy I was reminded of shows I had forgotten about too. The way the media uses trope on BW has been going on for way too long. I could only think of a two major pairings that escape the trope and one would have happened if fans didn’t push back.
Chris Rock revealed he watched "Emancipation" so he could see Will Smith being whipped.
In the film which is based on a true story, Smith plays a slave in Louisiana who decides to escape after being whipped almost to death.
I’m so glad Nicole Beharie spoke up and confirmed what we all know happened to her on Sleepy Hollow. Metzner mistreated her and had her blackballed. They ruined a show cause she (a black woman) was the lead.
I’m so glad Kelly Rowland has this little Christmas movie franchise on Lifetime looking forward to the new movie tonight gonna sit back and enjoy whatever mess her family brings this year
#MerryLiddleChristmasBaby
It’s always funny (strange) how some actresses do this when they come onto a show with a BW as a love interest. Off the top of my head I remember the TWD and Flash actresses having someone come in and try to start a ship. I always see this as an attempt to undercut the BW actress
It’s sick! Black women that read comics and connect with those black female characters wanna see them represented correctly when adapted for the big screen. I am so tired of this being the story almost every time when it comes to our characters.
I like how the added context to the tweet is that they “liked”BP when I remember them stating that it was a torture to the eyes cause of all the black people and the “dark colors” another said all the blackness made him sleepy. But yeah race isn’t a problem over there
This little black girl design is so cute so I’ll definitely be watching this movie when it releases. I’m always happy to see more black girl characters in children animation.
Alive action won’t be about a multiverse plot again since the cartoon already has done that so get ready for someone else from the comics praise God. Personally I want Tiana.
I hate that he got Made by Maddie cancelled on Nick Jr the shows are completely different in terms animation style & tone. I’ll never forgive Black Twitter for helping him make a young black actress lose a voice acting role in an industry that hardly promotes Young black girls
Funny how that one drop don’t matter with him but if this was a woman y’all would be fancasting her for Storm. Telling us we can’t deny people their blackness. Well keep that same energy.
I sometimes wish that there were BW characters just like Lois and Iris. Just iconic regular women who have the heroes’ heart. I’d love to see that in comics. The family foundation for a hero built around his love for a BW.
Terrorized black women on here & now he’s trying to rebrand. Those with TikToks need to expose him on that app as well. Kill that fanbase. Tell potential sponsors. Grown ass man talkin about it was a phase 🙄 I want BW to apply the pressure on him in 2023
She’s not the “THEE GREATEST” Storm ever. Storm hasn’t been depicted right yet in live action.
I love Ms. Berry but not in this role. It’s time for Marvel to do right by Storm.
Look at Shuri and Riri existing in the same universe being geniuses.
Look at Riri being a dark skin black girl.
I haven’t forgotten all the dumb stuff said and all the stupid fan casts on this app about this character. I’m glad Marvel did Riri right. Now we wait for Storm news
@TheeDCstan
Wow can’t imagine tearing up my stuff over a team that doesn’t know me. I’ll get sad if they lose but I’m not destroying nothing that I spent or others spent their money on.
I feel like these takes about love not being important only became popular as black women and other poc started getting leading roles honestly. Then all of a sudden love stories/love interests were suddenly bad for female leads.
Not the girl that mocked colorism and fans and lied about Storm’s parents background to make it fit her. She can stay far away from Storm. She will forever be a stain on the legacy of Storm in live action.
I almost forgot that tomorrow we’re finally gonna get her on our screens.
#JupitersLegacy
I’m so ready for this. I hope they treated her right with the script too.
@shadowandact
@netflix
I have a lot of thoughts on this and none of it is nice. This casting is ugly and I’m tired of Netflix ruining opportunities for dark skin girls and women to get representation. All because their casting office is racist. I mean it very obvious at this point.
The funny thing is people always saying HRC wasn’t a good candidate but that shit don’t matter to republicans right now they’re ready to vote in brain injured Hershel Walker cause they know he’ll be led to vote for the republican agenda. That’s how they win.
@chaoticblkgirl
Like the way people fancast dark skin characters on this app. The pic from the comics will show a dark skin woman and they’ll pick a woman that’s 17% black and put the pictures side by freaking side and see no problem. It’s sickening.
@RealityCheckBW
Wow that happened on my campus too. Sad to see other schools have issues like this. Not only did this happen but I remember finding out that the football team targeted us Freshmen girls during orientation to see how many of us would go home by Winter Break. Sadly a lot did.
This is so triggering…how am I suppose to go near cars and feel safe again after witnessing such savagery and it’s on live tv too their ruining the image of NASCAR. He could have murdered him…I can’t sleep after seeing this
It’s always meant a dark haired tanned man. I’ve known this since middle school. Why are you guys acting silly over a decades old trope/description from WW written romance novels?
Out of all the shows mentioned Blood and Water is the only show with dark skin leads while the others seem to only have biracial leads. So black girls are still sort of stuck in the background there. Hopefully Blood and Water changes things cause the others show aren’t helping.
I’m really gonna need Hollywood casting directors to put down the paper bag and start looking at the talented dark skin actresses in Hollywood for movie roles. It’s about to be 2020. It’s time they stop being so predictable and colorist.
There is something really sick with people who always think a black woman character’s blackness is debatable. Like why would anyone have this opinion on what is the biggest black woman comic character? And the thought that her story/background would remain the same is asinine.
@diversitystorm
that Storm's character dint need to be african, she could have been a native American weather goddess, or inuit, or brazilain. Her story remains virtually unchanged.
The power in Storm's character and back story dont diminish her if you change Cairo to the Grand Canyon.
@chaoticblkgirl
See that’s why I don’t like that practice that Max introduced cause why are you taking away finished products. Very disappointed in this decision that was a cute movie
@AtlantisFell
Was talking about this just last week. The hated is amplified because they’re black. It’s something fandoms have been doing for so long I’m no longer surprised. Even had a person try & shame me for loving myself & black female characters/actresses that’s how deep their hate went
She’s lying and we all know why Bonnie was the only woman on TVD to be denied her canon romance storyline along with the many other things Plague denied her throughout the show’s run. At this point she needs to shut up cause we know what she is. There will be no rebranding here.
#TheVampireDiaries
showrunner Julie Plec explains why Damon and Bonnie never dated each other: "Damon’s just done too many terrible things and Bonnie just has more integrity than that."
The way we need a multi chapter book written about everything discussed here all the tropes, bait and switches and sneaky ways they undercut BW characters. And make it mandatory for scriptwriters & show runners to read cause it’s been happening for too long. Decades of this mess
I wonder why this noninterest comes up with BW characters only. When it’s BW characters now all of sudden you wanna explore and examine this so called dynamic. Y’all aren’t slick and we all know why this only comes up with BW. You’re really uninterested in seeing a BW being loved
@HosemasterGenrl
…I’m not interested in seeing their relationship become sexual because it’s boring. Examining a complex professional life is one we don’t see often enough and I hope we get to examine through these characters.
Bebe needs to call the police. I’m not going after no one who has two dead bodies in their house. But I will point them out to officers of the law
#SingleBlackFemale
Mind you this is Nurse Chapel, Storm, Mary Fields(an actual dark skin woman), and Vixen. These are just 4 women that y’all didn’t defend like this when that colorism casting actually hit them.
Lol I see a lot of hate cause Monica Rambeau is correctly being called the first super powered Black woman in the MCU. Marvel did every thing right with her down to the casting and that’s why she’s being celebrated.
John Ridley got some nerve. The BP run alone should have gotten him blackballed from writing black characters. Then DC allowed him to change a black hero’s race while breaking up and destroying the image of what was a pretty solid black family.
John Ridley is finally opening up about the Marvel series he was developing at ABC back in 2015.
“It’s not in the works anymore,” Ridley revealed on the Comic Book Club podcast. “It was a television version of The Eternals… But good”
They’re doing a terrible job of selling this film. People got the premise and they weren’t interested especially after seeing the trailer. They wanted something fresh or at least a movie that would turn the trope on its head.
"There were Black people who were triggered by seeing something that they weren't ready to admit to themselves." Justice Smith talks about the focus group reaction to "The American Society of Magical Negroes."
I wish she could relate to moving out the way. That whole scene is giving comedy I’m sorry but y’all can’t be serious. The girl had 25 mins to get out of the way.
Sony gonna do a full reboot. No spider suits made by Stark, no AI, no biracial MJ, he can’t mention his first or second villain, Civil War, IW or endgame. Everything about this Spider man is dead with this Sony mess. All that Peter’s went through can’t exist in the Sony verse.
Them ruining Shawn and Angela and rewriting her relationships with her friends just so that girl could get what she wanted which wasn’t realistic either. But I’m still glad this show is was cancelled almost immediately after the that went down. Deserved.
Always worried about the stupidest things. Never on code or nothing. Putting down an absolute stranger like BW don’t have it hard enough out here on this hell site.
Glad the lady got a nice proposal like that…maybe you should try a bad wig” I like her results better than yours
Why do you think dark skin black girls should see representation in half white characters. Everyone else gets to see themselves and I’m not gonna gaslight them about the colorism their seeing when they just wanna see themselves represented on a popular teen show
You’re correct cause if he wasn’t acting like an immature kid in their relationship running around and cheating it would have never happened. His own friend called it Karma in the beginning of the movie
Well for one the mob for Misty Knight was making sure her importance and storylines stayed away from her. BW were not happen with her reduction in storyline and romance. It was actually a big thing on here at the time of IFS2
If their backlash was just about them being Black women, where are the hate mobs for these characters?
(slight exception for Moon Girl, but her backlash comes from her comics. The show is dope and has gotten mostly positive reception)
It’s not lost on me that this narrative has only popped up after people have speculated that Sophie will be a black woman. And here y’all come trying to sound “progressive” will thinking up clever ways for the potential black woman to lost their romance and storyline.
Sophie’s struggles are no more uniquely female than every other heroine in the franchise and I would queer any of those stories too
This whole making a ship gay is anti feminist thing is a cop out
If I was in charge I’d get Trevante Rhodes to be Blue Marvel and rewrite that origin and then immediately make the Adam and Monica a power couple for Marvel.
We need a Blue Marvel film franchise announced. Give me a young Black actor just as we see with Brie Larson playing Carol Danvers. Adam Brashear deserves to be in the mainstream.
#CaptainMarvel
@shogentushi
Really the “whole demographic” called him corny. I cannot stand how y’all speak in absolutes & she honestly looks like a preferred preference than the “demographic” you’re gleefully trying to down instead of taking this as a moment where MBJ is talkin to a person who bullied him
Lol you just gotta laugh at this pt cause he was obviously talking about them being love interests with each other but as usual people like you see a BW involved and they wanna make it platonic and about friends.
I knew that man had problems when he acted like black women weren’t apart of the British Black Panther movement in his little flop series or movie for Starz. Defended it against black women whose relatives were apart of it and said he made the heroine Asian to reflect his wife
There’s only a certain type of Black woman being erased constantly in media If they aren’t addressing the colorism aspect of why that is happening then the conversation they’re having has no substance.

Somehow, someway no matter the fandom there will always be comments like this towards black female characters and their relationships. They never know why but it’s always only directed towards black female characters.

The way it’s karma for miscasting Calypso. They’ll keep pushing it back and when it releases it will be a flop and honestly my petty ass loves it. Stop miscasting black women characters
So we get an easy black romance movie with both being professionals with no date down agenda, no toxicity and people are complaining about it being bad and boring. Guess that means more Tyler movies....cause for some reason we can’t just enjoy things that don’t show BW in pain.
I thought I hated that “Strong Black Woman” phrase before this incident but now I absolutely hate it. It’s always been used as a tool to deny black women empathy and humanity. This incident makes that very clear that’s all it ever was too.
She needs to throw
@ewrote
under the bus. I know just from what I’ve seen on the TL that he’s a Uncle Ruckus in that writers’ room. No reason the romance between Iris/Barry disappeared the moment he took over. The white show runners pushed the romance. He’s actively sabotaging it
Candice Patton has opened up about the mistreatment she faced on ‘The Flash.’ The CW and WB refused to protect her against racism and harrassment from fans. She also spoke out about the unequal treatment between her and her non-black costars.

my interest is gone now. This is another colorist casting the mother was darkskin I guess MBJ thought only darkskin women live in Wakanda huh. How you cast this way looking at the Short and Comic is beyond me racist/colorist casting
Disgusting, delusional and pathetic. Sitting here bemoaning the inclusion of black female character in a game and claiming the design is ugly by using stock stereotypes
But just last month people were claiming that there wasn’t racism in gaming that BW needed a safe space from
I hope now that with this being Amandla Stenberg fifth movie taking a role meant for a dark skin actress that y’all see that her ass was lying about Black Panther. She was never under consideration. She just lied for woke points.
Yeah I hope Gunn ignores this colorist mess right here. It’s 2023 not a single one of them should be playing Nubia. Like what the hell is wrong people still doing this. Either you know what you’re doing or colorist people are just plain stupid
Through 3 season
@YouNetflix
has featured almost NO black men or any MOC in a speaking roles but certainly finds time to make sure all of the women of color have white husbands or significant others. Hollywood's version of diversity: WM + various WOC continues unabated
