Followed in the footsteps of @jodi_mahoney and spent time as a writing buddy for a 1st grader today. No matter how crazy my day is, I don't want to forget my roots. Being with students keeps me connected to the classroom.

Dear Elementary School Teachers, Somehow you have made “criss cross applesauce” the most universal, memorable and powerful phrase ever. When I asked my high school students to sit on the floor for an activity, they all shouted, in unison, “criss cross applesauce!”
