Growing up in a level of poverty Goodall couldn't even imagine in a poor community, no one cared that there were rich people around who could afford anything. All we wanted was to live decent lives with a roof over our heads and food in our bellies. Envy was for losers.

Henig upset Leave voters are consistent. But it seems he is totally unaware what Freedom of Movement was. Well, he’s now discovered brexit wasn’t racist, it was simply a call for less immigration from anywhere.
I see that those complaining 10 years ago that there were too many Europeans coming to the UK and that we therefore needed to leave the EU are now saying that there are too many non-Europeans coming to the UK.

Goodall proving that total stupidity was endemic in the BBC. He thinks a 100% IHT (which is what he actually argued for) makes capitalism work. It does the opposite. It’s insane destroying home ownership & SME’s on the lie it reduces income tax.
Today I argued for raising inheritance tax, a tax on a hand out, unearned wealth, in exchange for cuts in income tax-a tax on work. This has riled up lots of people on here. But I think it’s essential to make capitalism function. Watch my argument in full.

It's obvious Goodall doesn't have children. If he had his entire life would revolve around making his children's lives better than his own. He would sacrifice anything for them and he would hope that in his death his children & Grandchildren would be looked after financially.

For years womens campaigners rightly demanded the police take a Pro active approach to domestic assaults on women. This now involves the police & CPS deciding to prosecute even without the consent of the victim. This protects women too frightened to complain. That happened here.

An excellent thread on the politics of envy based around taxing your home. Younger generations bemoan older people living in big houses they bought decades ago & are now too big & very valuable. This policy would put off older people downsizing as it would cost too much.
Reports suggest Labour may introduce capital gains tax on home sales in the Autumn Budget. It sounds like an easy revenue raiser - but the evidence shows it would slash transactions, gum up housing chains, and could even collect less tax overall. Thread:

An experienced Sgt telling it how it is. There is real fear amongst younger officers that the slightest mistake or complaint will at best lead to months or years of worry and stress and at worst lead to the sack or even prison. All for a mediocre wage.

He still spouts the idea Trump is a Putin ally doing his bidding who is happy for international borders to be trashed . The reality is the opposite. Trump respects borders, he simply doesn’t believe the war can end with military victory so a deal is the only alternative.

The idea “European leaders pulled off something surreal” has to be one of the funniest things you’ll read this year. They were only there because Trump talked to Putin. There is only an agreement because Trump talked to Putin. Trump is the most anti war president in a century.

I'm a Zep fan & have been since 1970. I've seen them in concert in 3 different countries and have every record they ever released as a band & solo. But the answer is no. The greatest band ever are The Beatles. It's not even a competition.
