Federalist 1 is so ominous. People are greedy and stupid, even the wisest among you fighting for the best causes will drag in ambition and partisanship. And for some reason fate has set up America as a test of whether or not mankind will ever be capable of transcending its flaws

weird that there are great jazz albums and great rock albums. but if you want to listen to 80s synthpop no album is better than any "best of the 80s" compilation.

"why would a land war in europe be so bad for america anyway". history education has failed us.
@McFaul No. You go ahead and explain why we are paying for the Estonian or Czech militaries. Why were we doing that?. When was the one time in history that Russia actually attacked westward?. When they were talked into it by the United States. Why are we paying for Eastern European.

does it really feel like we have 5x as many inventions today as in 2004?. are patent counts a measure of technological progress or just of litigiousness.
China's innovation surge is shredding to pieces the myth that free-market capitalism is a prerequisite for innovation. Sure, there is a thriving private sector in China. But the state — not the capitalists — ultimately controls the direction of investment in China.

during the next election what will the dem candidate publicly promise to roll back and what will they quietly continue?. like obviously the republican candidate will keep it all. but dems have this strategic choice issue by issue. e.g. biden did not push for new trade agreements.
