I've been doing this for almost two decades and highly recommend it. and I've been able to inform a few organizations that their user databases were compromised, as a result of knowing which org leaked the email address to which a given spam or phish was sent.
Email aliases can help users detect breaches early, and fight spam. But not all websites allow aliases, and they can complicate account recovery. Here’s a look at the pros/cons of adopting a unique alias for each website.
