Still, our ship was blocked for 20 days — allegedly for disobeying orders. An absurd and dangerous decision that only leads to more deaths in the Mediterranean. But we keep fighting for freedom of movement for all!

On July 14, Aurora rescued 70 people in distress at sea, many were suffering from burns and dehydration. Despite bad weather and imminent danger, authorities assigned us the more distant port of Pozzallo. We changed course —with Italy’s approval— and headed to Lampedusa.

#winning! ⚖️ The civil court in Agrigento has ruled in our favor: The detention of our ship Aurora in July 2025 was illegal. Our actions were necessary to protect human lives. Read more about the detention 👉 https://t.co/30ZIxpo1Xv

Our aircraft Seabird 2 spotted this vessel in distress. The IVER BEAUTY was heading there and confirmed, that they turned away after orders from an unnamed "coastguard". @alarm_phone says the boat was intercepted by the so-called Libyan coastguard. This is a disgrace.

Our #Seabird aircraft documented the search operations, but searching for survivors is not enough. They needed to be rescued immediately – Italy and Malta have the duty to rescue!

Another shipwreck in the Mediterranean. Italy and Malta knew about the boat since yesterday afternoon, thanks to @alarm_phone, but did not send help until it was too late. Of the ~35 people on board, only 11 were rescued in Lampedusa [1/2].

⚫ Shipwreck off #Lampedusa Yesterday, Alarm Phone alerted authorities to a boat with ~35 people in #Malta SAR zone. They failed to act. The boat capsized, we fear about 20 deaths. We cannot express our anger at yet another group consciously being left to die.

Ten years ago today, we still believed that we only had to show politicians what it was like to sit in a rubber boat with 120 people to make them change their politics. We were wrong: Germany is turning more inhuman each day. No one should have to be convinced to save lives.

This is not acceptable. @italyMFA_int, why did these people have to suffer for so long? Why were we not given a closer port? Medical emergencies need immediate care, not five more days at sea.

Survivors with severe burns spent five days at sea because we were denied a closer port. Our medical team gave their all with emergency showers, wound dressing and pain management right away, but the people needed medical care in a hospital. The authorities in Rome knew this.

This should have never happened. When we disembarked in La Spezia on Friday, we overheard health professionals on the shore saying, that given the condition of the people on board, La Spezia should have never been assigned as our harbor. https://t.co/0xX37gjWpE

Overnight from Sunday to Monday, our Sea-Watch 5 crew rescued 79 people who were left to die by Europe’s deterrence policies. Their assigned port is La Spezia – meaning they won’t reach safety until Friday. No one should have to wait days for safety after surviving the sea.

🔴Video shows that warlord Haftar’s militia, the Tariq Ben Zeyad Brigade, was behind the shooting of 3 people in distress on the weekend. One is in a coma now, fighting for their life. Meanwhile, the @EU_Commission & @Frontex are meeting East Libyan delegations to “collaborate.”
