The entire difference between the FG and BR's Cal Raleigh WAR numbers is catcher framing which BR doesn't include. We have him as an avg catcher and FG has him the 8th best defender in the majors for all positions. You can decide if you think he's avg or better.

Last week, we asked our team members which coworker they’d switch jobs with for a day. Unsurprisingly, we had mentions of SR President @Sean_Forman. On his birthday, we thought we'd share some of those who said they'd swap places with our fearless leader—Happy Birthday, Sean! 🥳

It’s frustrating because xG is getting compared to astrophysics or whatever, but it’s an incredibly easy concept to explain and should make intuitive sense to experts. Plus commentators are fine being xG-adjacent. How often does one opine “team X has created the better chances?”

Moments ago from today's ManU-Chelsea game. "I could tell you that Man U are underperforming their xG by around 6.8 goals, but then we'd have about as much to say and understand about that as a short discussion of nuclear physics." (quote may be a touch off)
@sean_forman What's an example?
