Good luck, Matt. Absolutely smashing lad, great fun to watch and work with. I’m sure he’ll have a successful time at Kent.
Matt Parkinson will leave the Club and join Kent at the end of the 2023 season. Thank you and good luck, @mattyparky96. 🌹 #RedRoseTogether

Yes, I read Andrew Strauss’s high-performance review so you didn’t have to. Although as ever, interpreting the gist of these documents is not so much an exercise in reading as cryptography. By @jonathanliew

To Andrew Strauss’s mind it is all about high performance, a problem-solving exercise that requires evidence. He doesn’t get it

I’ve followed the team home & away again this year, it’s a privileged position, and I love it. But I only have to talk about the game, not play it. I think it’s difficult to argue with what Mark says here.

"There's still something pretty special about the Blast. Something admirable which is able to attract over 10,000 spectators at 72 hours' notice. Something which deserves nurturing. It deserves a lot more respect than it receives" | @GeorgeDobell1

Of course deporting people to Rwanda is appalling. Everybody agrees with Prince Charles about that. The point is that some people really, really *want* refugees to be treated appallingly & that character defect is almost impossible to fix from the outside.

It’s the classic rightwing goalpost shift: from “illegal immigrants” to “migrants” generally to “refugees”. The moral panic purports to be about legality, but in reality it’s about people from different places being able to make lives for themselves here in the UK at all.

To be clear, not advocating there should be anti-Saudi sentiment over individuals involved in a single terrorist act, the leader designated a terrorist in SA before it happened. Just advocating from Brit POV that Freakonomics Ep on sportswashing: interesting.
15/19 hijackers on 9/11 were Saudi, as was the man who organised, masterminded & funded the 9/11 attacks, Osama Bin Laden. As a Brit listening to the most recent Freakonomics pod, interesting to note importance of this in US. ( https://t.co/y661dcf4Oz)

It's been disappointing to read several ex-players criticising Parkinson. He got the call mid-match, having done no red-ball prep in 3 weeks, yet took 1-47 off 15.3 on a seaming pitch. For comparison, look at how the opposition spinner went - & he's got a 10fer in test cricket!
