I support students' right to protest, even when they do things with which I disagree or that make me uncomfortable. Nothing they do or say is as dangerous as militarized cops trampling upon freedom of speech. I am more afraid of tyranny than my students' words and deeds.

My parents are both proud graduates of Union. This is powerful.

In 2022-23 I worked on Care in the Academy, a Mellon Foundation grant that looked at ways to extend care to faculty and staff in #highered The kind of bs in my post above, is NOT how you do that. But there are relatively simple ways, even in times of crisis, to do that work.

My university introducing an existential crisis (which job/majors/programs will be cut?) while also demanding that we complete our "faculty annual activity reports" by an artificial deadline would be laughable if it wasn't, in fact, just cruel and unnecessary.
