It's not AI or Nukes that will wipe us out. My bet is on stupidity.

Monoliths can be loosely coupled. Microservices can be tightly coupled. It's up to who is building it.

Honestly, into what circle of HELL do I consign the people who send me calendar invites without first checking my FREE/BUSY blocks to validate that I'm free for the proposed time slot? Is there a circle of hell for narcissists --?

My son, who is a software engineer, just told me that people who know software just had their Elon Musk realization.

Twenty years ago they said this about C++, Java, and SQL. Forty years before that, FORTRAN and COBOL. Everything has a shelf life. Accept it, or transition to something other than tech. (I don't mean to gatekeep, but this is a practical reality of this industry.)

If you last checked in on AI image makers a month ago & thought “that is a fun toy, but is far from useful…” Well, in just the last week or so two of the major AI systems updated. You can now generate a solid image in one try. For example, “otter on a plane using wifi” 1st try:

Event Sourcing news! (1) There is an awesome Discord server: ddd-cqrs-es (2) @gregyoung is working on a book! 🤩 (3) Event Log pattern without aggregates is still Event Sourcing, even though it works with Kafka. Greg said so himself.

Thread time. Here's the thing about @tesla. It's not a car company. Tesla is a company that has to make cars in order to sell its real product: Emissions Credits. Let me explain. Back in 2012, the EPA put out new, strident emissions standards for new vehicles fleetwide. 1/

By far and away the best outcome from the @elonmusk debacle at @Twitter is that I don't expect many more #clickbaitheadlines from @TheIncMagazine including the trope "Elon Musk just gave a masterclass in how to..."

I'm sure this is me showing my age, but honestly the only way to be a fan of #SuccessionHBO is to be too young to remember #Dallas. This show is literally Dallas-but-with-media instead of oil. Same characters, same predictable in-fighting. Too bored to continue after s01e01+e02.

It occurs to me that #DAOs are most attractive to people who earnestly believe that the biggest problem with #w3c was that the bylaws were typed on web pages instead of being executable code in a #Blockchain #beenthere_donethat

Raise your hand if, while reading a book on leadership, management techniques, etc. your reaction when the authors present you with an over-clever acronym-based distillation of their guidance e.g., C.L.E.A.R., G.L.A.N.C.E. is "you just lost all credibility with me".

Red state public education is basically one giant PSA for home schooling. This is by design, if you ask me. Rich kids go to private schools, poor kids stay stupid. It’s the next redlining.

Just learned my junior won’t be able to take Physics this year. No teachers. In a public high school of nearly 2000 kids, there will not be a single Physics class offered. When teachers are not valued and compensated, this is where we land. And it’s maddening. @GovBillLee
