If this is truly the end of this genocide, then it would be the greatest cause for celebration, after 2 years of hell on Earth for the people of Gaza. But can you blame those of us who are skeptical that Netanyahu will abide by the terms of the ceasefire given past precedents?

Honestly, the level of ignorance is breathtaking. Not just her, but many like her commenting on this. Jihad is a common Arabic name in the Middle East, especially in the Levant. As a name, it does not denote "holy war", & many Muslim and *Christian* Arabs are named Jihad.

It would be nice if UN Secretary Gen would also remind folks that armed resistance against occupation by all available means is legal under Intl Law, has been affirmed by many UNGA resolutions & is perfectly legitimate, especially when non-violent means have been tried & failed.
Non-violence is not a weapon of the weak. It is the strength of the courageous. It is the power to resist injustice without hatred, confront oppression without cruelty & build peace through dignity, not domination.

Not to be a complete cynic, but there's little point spending hours writing essays about the minutae of Trump's 21 point plan & analyzing pros and cons, when the Israelis will very likely violate its parameters once they recover their prisoners (who would be released 48 hrs in).

Everyone wants this genocide to end, so it's natural to cling to hope that this new Trump plan will deliver that. But given past subterfuge from Trump & Netanyahu, why shouldn't plan be viewed as a ruse for Israel to get its prisoners back, only for genocide to continue after?
