Glad to present our ongoing work on abnormal heat and suicide risk in Istanbul today at the Pandemic Centre Conference 2025 hosted by @UiB. It was a great opportunity to connect the dots between climate, mental health, and crisis preparedness. #ClimateChange #MentalHealth

Our early analyses suggest that abnormal heat stress — days that feel hotter than usual for the season — is linked to more suicide-related ambulance dispatches in Istanbul (2017–2024). #ClimateChange #MentalHealth #HeatStress #UrbanHealth #PublicHealth

Our findings confirm the additive risk hypothesis, particularly through the maternal lineage. Neglect by both maternal grandparents and parents amplifies the risk of mental health issues. No significant effect was found for paternal grandparents.
