Today is International Day of Disaster Risk Reduction #DRRDay, focusing attention on reducing vulnerability to catastrophic weather and other natural and man-made disasters. It’s core to the work we do with communities at the frontline of the climate crisis.

Flooding is the one of the biggest consequences of the climate emergency. While #LossAndDamage has been widespread, good community adaptation measures mean that livelihoods aren't shattered. Very pleased to see these pictures from my colleague.
I met with Mangali Tharu in March 2022. She had just set up a #RaisedBedNursery in Bangaun of Western Nepal. Today, I received a pic of the nursery from my colleague. Sad to see the #LossAndDamage caused by the floods but glad to know that the saplings are safe #FloodResilience

Big change really does start small #tedxfiesole Together at the @floodalliance we are working to reduce flood risk for 2 million vulnerable people and get an extra $1 billion invested to transform the approach to this critical climate impact.
👉How it started: In 2005 @floodalliance got its first grant of £100 for a photocopier. 👉How it's going: In 2021 programmes extended with additional 4 million CHF. We're working with over 121,000 people in 77 communities to improve their #FloodResilience:
