Do you commute through North Charleston? Cops say license plate readers at entrances to the city and pumped up surveillance on I-26 are part of their proposed dragnet. Like much of the plan, details are unclear.
On 4/21, police pitched the idea for a "Joint Operations Center" to the city's Finance Committee and received no pushback. The request includes 34 Rekor license plate readers, 745 Mercator cameras, a Fusus surveillance dashboard, and Constant Technologies video wall.
