2nd, tonight Australia legislated strong vehicle CO2 standards to massively increase EV uptake in a >1m vehicles annual market. The standards are the most robustly designed I've seen globally (no loopholes!) and will save Aus motorists thousands of dollars on imported petrol.

The FCAI should now issue corrections and apologies regarding its false public statements over the last month. A good start would be FCAI CEO Tony Weber saying this down the barrel to Karl Stefanovic over a graphic titled "CAR PRICE CHANGES".

Now that the FCAI has backed away from its own false and misleading price claims, anyone who repeats them would be repeating a known falsehood.

Good news! The FCAI no longer forecasts vehicle price impacts from New Vehicle Efficiency Standards. It told Fact Check today: "This is not a forecast on price impacts. Price and how penalties/credits are carried forward will be a matter for each brand"

Electric SUVs must be $47,200 cheaper to take off, and Cybertrucks would have to be discounted by $142,300, say the geniuses at @AAAcomms who have “assessed consumer preferences." 🙄🤦‍♂️ Meanwhile in the real world.

News from Tesla: we are leaving the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries and resigning from its board. The FCAI has repeatedly made claims about new vehicle efficiency standards that are demonstrably false. We can't stand by that. Here's the letter.
