So it’s easy to project onto them whatever you want, and in their minds, Japanese skaters become perfect unproblematic uwu angels and underrated “underdogs” (even tho they win all the time) who can do no wrong that they must defend from the evil forces at all times at all costs.

really great points in this thread especially this and labeling other skaters as “problematic” to justify bullying them just cause they beat your faves
What I’ve learned from them from years of observation is that they want blank canvases that they can project their desires onto. And Japanese skaters are perfect for that because they’re ice prince/princess types and unlike the Americans, they don’t really speak their minds.

part of me wonders if there are few people speaking out because there are israeli judges that can tank their results but the israeli judge from yesterday actually put Alysa above Kaori despite her being the only skater competing whos speaking out
