I’ve heard this before, and I agree. I tend to overwrite—the first draft of my WIP was 120k—and with each pass I make through the ms, it gets shorter (I just got it to 97k words this morning, with still more to lose) AND stronger. It’s a better book for losing the fluff.
#WritingCommunity folks, I’ve been seeing quite a few queries w/ MS word counts that are way too long for traditional publication consideration. It’s so hard to sell a book to a publisher to begin with, but it’s even more challenging to sell books over 100K. Here’s why: a thread.

Perhaps the most exciting part about this vanity issue for me is that my painting was used as the cover, the first time I've ever published (non-writing) art! I'm delighted that my space squid will be floating among the cosmos online with all of you. Thanks @theBlatherskite!
