I just saw Peter Dutton accuse me of acting because I “want a job on the Reserve Bank board”! He doesn’t understand that not everyone acts in grubby self-interest. I’ve already got a job thanks!

I can announce that in order to ensure balance after the first leaders debate hosted by SkyNews, the ACTU is prepared to host the second debate. Instead of Peta Credlin & Paul Murray commentating, it will be

and myself.

So Ken Wyatt the Liberal MP for Hasluck says he should get a pay rise when he is on $426K. He says he works hard. Well so do aged care workers on $24/hour who can’t afford rent or food. If there is a list of ppl deserving pay rises, he is at the bottom.
The Morrison Govt will not agree to paid leave to allow women & children to escape domestic violence, but there seems to be endless paid leave for abusers & harassers within his party.
A terrible fact:
The $40B in JobKeeper that went to companies that didn’t need it equates to $8/hour increase for the 2.6mil workers on minimum award wages
“Don't be too polite girls, don't be too polite,
Show a little fight girls, show a little fight,
Don't be fearful of offending, in case you get the sack
Just recognise your value and we won't look back.”
This is Australian union song, 1969
Today’s front page of The Australian is running headlines that are entirely made up, saying unions have launched a pay rise blitz threatening to undermine the economy during the Omnicron crisis! Shows how desperate they are to distract from Morrison’s failures
It seems the only popular thing the Morrison Govt did was JobKeeper. Never forget that JobKeeper was something unions proposed, Morrison ruled out & then we had to drag them kicking & screaming to implement. Left to their own devices it would never have happened.

It's strange that Peter Dutton thinks his party is one that can appeal to the working class when one of their core beliefs is taking rights off working people to keep their wages low. These things do not fit together.

Hey
@AusElectoralCom
- I just wanted to thank & commend the social media staff who engaged so patiently, consistently and with good humour during the election. You did a fantastic job educating people about our democracy & stopping misinformation. You all deserve a pay rise!
I want to wish all my twitter mates - all of you who believe that our world can be better and fairer for all - a happy new year. It’s been wonderful seeing you all in action pushing in that direction. Never give up.
There are 10 000 Australians with super balances above $5mil who pay little or no tax on it. It is a rort for the very rich. These ppl are now squealing that the Govt intends to stop it so we have more money for things like Medicare. They really need to get over themselves.
If Victoria doesn't get infections under control:
1. Lots of people will die
2. Chances are it will spread interstate
3. The economy will be more seriously damaged.
Victorians are making big sacrifices to keep everyone safe.
This is the 1st thing leaders should acknowledge
Lots of people have been contacting me about their employers insisting they turn up to work when they are sick or symptomatic and they cannot access a test to prove they have Covid.
These are your rights:
Surprise, surprise, Josh Frydenberg is going to promise real wage increases in his budget. Not once during the time he has been Treasurer has he delivered on his promised pay increases. It's all spin, they have no intention of lifting a finger to help workers get pay rises.
Tim Wilson spent most of his time in Parliament trying to destroy workers peoples retirement by attacking superannuation. Any politician who attacks workers rights has it coming to them eventually.

The QLD govt has revealed that 20 000 returned travellers last month are not “stranded Aussies” and instead were travelling for business or being bought here by companies to working visas. So the borders are not closed for companies, just for everyone else.
Rail workers are being abused by members of the public because they heard Scott Morrison & others lie and say they were on strike when there were not. The PM should apologise for the harm he has caused & correct the record as requested by
@RTBUnion
Qantas joining Coles, Woolworths and CBA posting huge profit results. Inflation is being feed by companies putting prices up more than they need. We are seeing a greed-price inflation spiral.
All these lockdowns are because of the total failure of our Fed Govt to do its job:
- get enough vaccines
- roll out the vaccines
- build proper quarantine
We are capable of so much better. Australians know how to act together to get things done. We have been badly let down
I can’t believe the hypocrisy of Coalition MPs talking about how much they care about “freedom of speech” when they want to ban the Eureka flag and union stickers on building sites.
I think we have learnt that we can’t rely on Scott Morrison to act with urgency when we need him to:
- bushfires
- Brittany Higgins
- quarantine facilities
- vaccine rollout
- Afghanistan evacuation

I see Scott Morrison is out attacking frontline workers & their unions today.
We are essential during the pandemic and a political football when it’s election time.
Wages are not keeping up with the cost of living, how about he does his job & stop attacking us for doing ours
Just imagine what it would be like if certain members of the Federal Government had to sit in the ICAC and answer questions and account for their decisions.
When they call us thugs, they are calling hard working Australians thugs - the people who care for you in hospitals, who care and educate children, tradies and supermarket workers. We deserve better than these insults

"I refuse to share a room with Union thugs..."
Is this the best the LNP can muster?
They really are running on empty!
Scott Morrison has been calling union members "thugs". The average union member is a 45 year old nurse. He should remember that next time he visits a hospital.
The previous Govt shamelessly stacked every board, court, committee & institution they could. Many of their appts were a not Australia’s best & brightest or representative. So much of our country’s talent and expertise was locked out for so long. It’s time to fix this.
Not sure why people are questioning why it took so long to cancel Djokovic's visa.
The Govt was waiting for advice and my understanding is it would take at least four days for focus groups to be completed

BREAKING: Tharnicaa (nearly 4 years old) is being medically evacuated to Perth for treatment of a suspected blood infection. She was hospitalised yesterday on CI after suffering a high fever, vomiting/diarrhoea & dizziness for 10 days. Pls keep our little cockatoo in your hearts.
I just re-read this, the Fijian PM “After what we went through with Morrison, nothing can be worse than him. China never insults the Pacific…They’re good people, definitely better than Morrison, I can tell you that.”
Yesterday our courts found that under Scott Morrison's Govt it is unlawful for Eureka flags to be flown on building sites. Employers, unions and workers will be fined for doing so. Waiting for everyone who believes in free speech to denounce this and demand the law be changed.
@ScottMorrisonMP
Nice marketing - but what this ad lacks is any mention of the huge sacrifices of ordinary Australians over the last three years. It’s not all about you, mate.
It seems that Morrison is saying instead of providing free tests for workers and employers, he will weaken health and safety protections for workers because that’s what employers want! We will see about that.
It seems Scott Morrison could not convince Premiers letting children drive forklifts was a good idea. Everyday he wants to announce something to make it look as though he is doing something. If he won’t get us RATs, just save us the stress and go on holidays.
ICU nurses in NSW exercised their right yesterday to stop work because their workplace is not safe. These are the people Josh Frydenberg is attacking when he attacks "militant unions". Who's side are you on?
@nswnma
Keeping workers safe is the way to keep businesses open. That’s what we are trying to do. If you want to help - stop attacking us, step up and get free RATs for everyone
Threats today of strike actions by militant unions has no place in the middle of a pandemic.
It would hurt workers, businesses & families.
It’s the wrong thing to do at a critical time, as Australians must continue working together to protect lives & livelihoods.
If Victoria had not taken the measures it has to aggressively suppress Covid19 it was inevitable infections would spread interstate. Their sacrifices have been for the whole of the country, the whole economy made in the face of relentless criticism.

How about we agree as a country that we should radically reduce the number of insecure jobs.
No more long term casual jobs
No more labour hire replacing permanent jobs.

Labor is set to announce free TAFE today. This is a great policy, we should be training & skilling people in Australia and remove financial barriers for everyone. The Liberal & Nationals have gutted TAFE and jacked up prices. We can do so much better.
Important news on inflation you won’t hear elsewhere:
It’s companies that set higher prices
Big business have done much more than pass on higher costs
They’ve jacked up prices much faster than costs for record profits
They are responsible for current inflation levels, not us.
I remember how hard we had to fight to win JobKeeper. The Government ruled it out and we had to change their mind. I have to say it is weird to listening to the Government now repeat over and over how great JobKeeper is and how it has saved jobs & the economy.
Billionaires around the world are pushing for the economy to be open regardless of the health consequences. They will be safe in their mansions whilst working ppl risk their lives. Our lives our less important to them than their wealth.
Update: After a big push back by unions & Labor State Govts, the Fed Govt could not get support to water down health & safety laws which would have meant employers would not have to provide RATs & workers would bear the cost. We will comment on other announcements soon
The ACTU condemns the violent attack on

office orchestrated by violent right-wing extremists and anti-vaccination activists.
This violent attack on union property which endangered union officials, staff and the public was reprehensible.
There are 50 recommendations from the Sex Discrimination Commissioner to stop sexual harassment. They have sat gathering dust for one year. What the PM should do is implement them

One of the things National Cabinet is considering tomorrow is watering down workers health and safety rights. It is appalling the Federal Govt is putting this on the table & it must be rejected. The most important thing Nat Cab can do is make RATs tests free & accessible to all
Fierce young women are only possible because of women who came before them who refused to be polite, no matter how hard that was, and no matter how much disapproval they encountered at the time.
Let’s cut to the chase:
The Liberal Party will NEVER fix the wages crisis so people get decent pay rises because their big business backers will not let them.

Today workers will be protesting outside Harvey Norman stores as Harvey Norman is opposing minimum wage increases when their profits went up & they pocketed JobKeeper.

Right now I’m thinking if the Federal Government had done the job of getting all the stranded Aussies home by Christmas as promised, there would be no mutant more infectious virus in Australia.
So Labor says if they are elected there will be a National Corruption Commission by the end of the year. How will it possibly prioritise the huge stinking pile that will be lined up outside its door?
Do you know a Victorian? Contact them, they really need to hear from you. They have achieved something incredible, something no one else in the world has crushing the coronavirus. Yet few will be congratulating them or even acknowledging how hard it has been.
ABS figures just released shows Australian workers received the biggest wage cut in 20 years in 2021. Wages grew 2.3%, CPI increased 3.5%. All on Scott Morrisons watch. What’s his answers?
The total lack of urgency by the Fed Govt to stop foreseeable disasters is infuriating. Why were they not working DAY & NIGHT and pulling out ALL STOPS to set up safe quarantine & get us vaccinated? Now jobs will be lost & health is at risk. There are no excuses for negligence.
@FionaMartinMP
These people are ATTACKING a union office for supporting vaccinations. Where are you doing the hard yards & countering anti-vax lies? Please apologise
The Morrison Govt is trying to push the cost of RATs required for work onto workers telling them they are “tax deductible”. Let’s be clear - under our laws if they are required for work - the employer must pay for them!
Covid19 has completely exposed the fact we have far too many casual and insecure jobs. The 3rd highest in the OECD. So many different types of jobs without rights. This is one thing that we must change

When are we going to talk about price gouging to deliver record profits adding to inflation? Energy companies and supermarkets are putting up prices more than they need to.
