i think a lot about how people in academia shamed me for taking a summer off to do an internship in tech which paid 3x my yearly salary as a physics graduate student. they figured i was leaving for industry already or was not interested enough in my field of astrophysics.

We hope it serves as a unifying reference for those moments when you're (just like Benji and I) confused about the subtle differences between these methods. A Rosetta Stone.

Our tutorial is out in @PASPJournal! Benji Metha and I break down the difference between power spectra and other ways to quantify spatial correlation in cosmology and astrophysics.
In a recent open-access tutorial published in @PASPJournal the various approaches and nomenclature used to characterize spatial variations in astrophysics are unified into a common interpretation and description. https://t.co/g67qNjhyvn. -JGM

Congrats to Natasha Van Bemmel on winning an MNRAS Student Prize. The MNRAS editors selected her first‑author paper, An Optically Led Search for Kilonovae to z~0.3 with KNTraP, as one of six best student‑led publications this year, what a debut!

Both hosted with the amazing @KierstenBoley! CC episode: https://t.co/GmYXuX2AZg Indigenous astronomy episode: https://t.co/tFAFG8ejg9 I’m excited to see the new co-hosts take the lead and can’t wait to see where the podcast goes next!

I’m especially proud of the Beyond episodes I helped lead! We broke ground on stigmatized topics in astronomy, like the journey to becoming an astrophysicist from community college, and spotlighted overlooked histories, such as Indigenous people who were the first astronomers!

Can’t believe my time as an astro[sound]bites host has come to an end! During my time on the show, I’ve moved continents, changed astrophysics subfields, and navigated personal grief. Through it all, my fellow co-hosts and this podcast have been a constant in my academic life.
In this episode, we say goodbye to one of our beloved hosts, Sabrina Berger. We look at the depths and breadths of Sabrina’s research experience, ask about her experience in 3 different countries and her advice for future grad students! https://t.co/HxLTp0j1rs 🔠#astronomy

The more things change, the more they, uh, change. This ep covers events changing our night sky view. Cormac presents a star bullying a black hole accretion disc, Shashank, a persnickety pulsar, and Cole gets his pulsar music rant cut for time. https://t.co/ZOXCVDUgFk

In this episode, the (domestic) American sector of Astro[sound]bites covers the recent proposed budget cuts to NASA, the largest in its history. We cover the downsides these cuts would have for science and the economy, and what you can do to speak out. https://t.co/qFQ0sMRNXx

This ep we cover the big boy on cosmology campus: LCDM. What can't this model explain about the universe? Shashank gives a tour through galaxies' dark matter hearts and Cormac shows how 1500 (ish? Unclear on this one) supernovae may hint at a flaw in LCDM. https://t.co/q8h5gHt9I9

Why to stop buying this book for your physics-interested young people: I read this as a 14 year old girl and that made me feel as welcome as you would expect with the content https://t.co/4F8s0xQzGB

We titled the conference Kaba Kada, a Kuku Yalanji phrase meaning “the rainy place,” after the Daintree Rainforest, the world’s oldest tropical rainforest. It will be held in Port Douglas, Queensland, between Daintree and the Great Barrier Reef.

This figure! This is the most complete census of what we, humanity, have learned about dark energy. 6 multinational experiments, decades of work by 1000s of physicists, and petabytes of data later, this's the most we can say about #darkenergy's evolution. https://t.co/AB2aM9KtnQ
