Good to be featured in this piece for @TheAtlantic about the “undernurture” of boys- something I write about in my book, Boymom.

The idea that boys should be raised to be “tough” is resurgent in American culture. But that attitude, @drjcoleman writes, conflicts with research showing that to thrive, boys really need more affectionate care:

Like millions of Netflix’s audience, I’m fascinated by the conversations #Adolescence sparked around masculinity, parenting, tech. How can we all help the next generation navigate such a complex world? I asked authors @jacksontkatz and @ruthwhippman:

@KenArthurII2 @ruthwhippman Because what she writes is excellent and loving support of men and boys. She has three sons, and says that we males get a bad rap in society, and that we need more understanding and support, and less criticism. Her whole tone is supportive of men and boys.

When I was reporting for Boymom I was always keen to listen to viewpoints across the political spectrum. As a liberal and a feminist, I was nervous to go on the @SteveDeaceShow but was genuinely impressed by the respectful treatment and open and good faith discussion I got to

Today's @BlazeTV show -- we go in-depth with a liberal boy mom writer who is concerned about the plight of boys & men in our culture. As are we. Is there common ground to be found? This is a must-see interview. https://t.co/HqtDuUM1Cj
