However, there's an intriguing twist! Our study uncovers a "retweetability paradox": contrary to earlier studies and conventional wisdom, messages perceived as more critical are NOT more likely to be reposted, but the opposite is true.

Our theory suggests that the way we express why someone (e.g. a politician) is at fault and whether we're criticizing their character, behavior or the outcomes of their actions influences how strongly other people perceive the criticism and whether they're likely to repost it.
