The future is now: new paper where we developed & validated the first commercially available wearable to predict tissue loading at three common running injury locations using machine learning Full-text https://t.co/PVAJyQQG9E Free formatted full-text https://t.co/E9ykuXUsYe

My simple training motto: Train as much as you safely can (most of it easy), with strategic increases in volume and intensity done progressively over time. #noshortcuts

3 insights from new trail-running research: - leg strength differentiates elite from rec trail runners, and trail from road runners - top UTMB finishers slow more on uphills and speed up more on downhills than midpackers - poles save your legs on uphills https://t.co/d4RPuuSwFt

I consider this to be one of the most important things I've written. Mileage-building is often a confusing topic and the "10% Rule" isn't helping anybody. Know your "baseline mileage" and you'll build mileage smarter: https://t.co/gGcSopksrP

The "shoe cushioning paradox": why do runners seem to hit the ground harder when wearing cushioned shoes, and yet get fewer injuries? It has to do with the timing of the impact(s), according to research by @LaurentMalisoux. https://t.co/JKC3c2zsHu

Runners smack the ground harder—but get injured less—in more cushioned shoes. New research explains why.

Developing endurance is simple, yet difficult. How do you get fitter aerobically? What should I worry about to get better? I get asked this question all the time. So here's the answer From beginner to Olympian, here’s what to worry about when it comes to endurance development:

On kysytty, mikä minulle on tullut kun vastustan #elvytyspaketti'a. Sanon nyt selvästi ettei mikään. Minusta ei tullut persu. Jokainen puolue vastusti kaksi vuotta sitten yhteisvelkaa ja lupasi sen äänestäjille. Kysykää, mikä monille puolueille on tullut.

Very cool stuff: detailed lab and track testing data from the 16 finalists in Nike's Breaking2 selection process. Biggest surprise to me: average VO2max was "only" 71.0 ml/kg/min, and only one runner above 77 (I have my suspicions about who that was!). https://t.co/3rDVnHAfje

When it comes to training, everything has tradeoffs. Do lots of strength, endurance, or speed work and the rest are all impacted. It's not in having the highest level of each at the same time, it's in finding the balance for the athlete and the demands of the event.
