This piece from @Jason_AW, written just after last year's Chicago Marathon, was pretty apt. Think most of the running world were in sheer shock and disbelief at Ruth Chepngetich running 2:09:56. Today's news of her being banned for three years is sadly not surprising.
After Ruth Chepngetich ran 2:09:56 in Chicago, the world was left wondering if the performance was down to her undoubted talent, hi-tech super shoes, modern energy drinks or something else. Today the Kenyan was banned for three years for doping. https://t.co/ugL786c25m

There’s no such thing as an elite 9 year old athlete. Nothing really matters until after puberty. Let’s stop the madness.

Best wishes and thanks @AthleticsImages I have loved all the photos you have that have documented my running even if not in the same class as those greats you list here. Enjoy your retirement 🙏🏼
After 62 years 'snapping' Athletics, I've decided it's time to retire. Thank you @jackrbuckner @sebcoe @KatharineMerry @DmMoorcroft @paulajradcliffe @wendyslyrun @WightmanGeoff for your kind words in the article highlighting my career in the December issue of @AthleticsWeekly

Looks like I am back for London Marathon Number 6! Getting older. Getting slower every time. But still can’t resist that London vibe. If I close my eyes & just listen to the crowd I can almost believe I am running as fast as London Marathon Number 1 😝🤣 ❤️ #Londonmarathon

The vast majority of recovery interventions come down to: does it make you feel better? Normatec, foam rolling, massage, etc If it makes you feel better on race day, go for it Is it more placebo than reality? Maybe. But as long as there's minimal downside, feeling better helps

Delighted to be Volunteer of the Year at Cheltenham Harriers. As I joked yesterday on bad weather days I secretly hope no one turns up. But they do wind/rain & snow! So big thanks all at Cheltenham Harriers. Because a coach without any athletes is just a weirdo with a stopwatch🤣

New entry standards for championship entry at the 2025 London Marathon; 2:38 for men (2:40 in 2024) and 3:10 for women (unsure of 2024). Brand new system to be used in 2026 with entry no longer guaranteed if you run the time. https://t.co/vQ1KHCLDhs

Just about every world-class endurance athlete I've asked says the same thing: They want to quit during a race It's natural to want to quit. Your brain is looking for a 'better' alternative to escape the threat of pain. Doubts are normal The best train to navigate them better
