I get that it's tough to start from zero a new place. I recommend cross-posting in both/all the places for a while and focus your interactions on the other places, following and interacting with people there, while also making people here aware of your accounts over there.

Most accounts here are inactive at this point. Combine with the increasingly negative perception of this place (bans on Twitter links etc.) and I just don't understand why gamedevs would invest their energy here over those other places that are already more vibrant communities.

For the few people who still post only or mostly here and not on πŸ¦‹ or 🐘, I'm curious why?. I get more engagement on those platforms despite having half the followers. And @OskSta who recently got more active on πŸ¦‹ gets same engagement there with just a tenth of the followers.

For my game, I need creatures that are both procedurally generated and animated. And not just crawly critters or aliens, but specifically mammals. This is quite a research challenge. Here's a write-up on my progress over the past few years:.#ProcGen

Of course, I recommend Mastodon too. It would have been my preference, but there's just way more people and activity on B. X feels the least active. My feed is like a few stragglers still remaining in a city long deserted.

I use Sky Follower Bridge to find people I follow on X on B-sky too and almost everyone I follow have B. accounts too now. Unfortunately, a fair amount use them as placeholders only and have zero posts on over there. I'd really recommend using it actively. X is a ghost town.

People still working there might have more info, but can't necessarily say much. Over on 🐘 Aras (also ex-Unity) said, "My understanding is that there's some discussions and arguments [about] how much it should be backwards compat, vs how much they should do breaking changes.".

I haven't followed Unity closely, but I understood many employees were excited to show the new direction of Unity 7 at Unite 2024 and it was generally well received?. But this has since been jeopardized because the new CEO doesn't want breaking changes?.
