"friend" eh? The "friend" I want is walkable neighborhoods and mixed-use housing so we can meet and socialize with other humans more easily and regularly

Love this: Electric vehicles are about saving the auto industry not the planet. They rely on cities built for cars not for people. Why do we have to come up with a new thing? When we could just start funding public transporation.

Check out what changes are coming to Cheney Creek Natural Areaβs parking area. Plans include rerouted parking and lighting improvements to reduce dangers to pedestrians and improve access to current and future trails. Stay tuned for updates! #fishersin

I ended up hitting 2 coffee shops and Yats even though those weren't the main reason for my visit, just because it was easy to stop. Still work to be done improving the safety from cars of course, but dang that was so pleasant compared to when I've driven around town!

I visited Indianapolis this morning and I have to say it's such a pleasure to get around it on a bicycle! I parked out to the NE off the interstate and transitioned to the bike. So easy to glide around town without worrying about traffic or parking!

New bike day π€ͺ I'm not a road bike kinda guy generally, but found this 1988 Raleigh Technium and it seemed like it would be fun to tune up and play around with.

Question for Indy residents! Where's a low impact place to park if I'm driving in from out of town and visiting the mile square? I don't mind walking/biking/bussing in so it doesn't need to be close; just looking to ditch the car and not contribute to congestion π€

Additionally, public improvements in walking, biking, and public transit benefit everyone. Investing in E cars only benefit people who can drive, choose to drive, and can afford an E car. That's a much smaller part of our population! EV charger isn't helping 12 y.o. on foot/bike

It doesn't matter what you power them with, the many negative externalities and costs of cars remain. If you want to invest in EVs, invest in e-bikes; they can be charged anywhere, have much smaller batteries, do much less damage to roads, and are much less deadly.

Great thread to get you caught up on the controversy at Hamilton East Public Library
ππ§΅: Our education reporter @Rachel_Fradette will cover today's Hamilton East Public Library board meeting. They're meeting for the first time since a series of controversies arose in recent weeks. Here's a refresher.

"In order to make transportation safer, engineers and policymakers canβt expect much progress from individuals changing their behavior. Instead, the transportation system should be altered to reduce the overall risk people face when using it." https://t.co/WAP0jTf22b

New research describes transportation engineers as part of the public health workforce, and argues they should emphasize strategies that reduce risk for greater proportions of the population.
