I also discuss alternative governance structures and institutions on CMI that play an important role in the distribution of rights and duties, incl. voluntary cooperation arrangements, private law regimes, and increased securitization, surveillance & militarization of the seas.

Pre-print of a short new piece of mine on critical marine infrastructure (CMI) is up! I outline some of the international legal principles applicable to CMI generally, focusing on the Law of the Sea, laws applicable to CMI damage, and their limitations.
