To add to this, I think most of the sad books we have in Nigeria have a common theme. Women suffering in marriage. We need more depth to the sadness of our stories. That is why I love “The Fisherman” by Chigozie Obioma and “Buried Beneath The Baobab Tree” by Adaobi T. Nwaubani.

Found out in Psychopharmacology class in grad school that paracetamol and ibuprofen relieve heartbreak. People tend to dismiss and even make fun of emotional pain but it's real suffering and the brain processes it just like physical pain.

Instead of pressing a phone and ordering in food from Ubereats, I'll walk into a spot & sit down. Instead of a Spotify playlist, I'll put a vinyl on & stand up every so often to switch sides. Instead of quick photos on my phone/digital camera, I'll take photos on my film camera.
