Don't know how common this feeling is among mathematical epidemiologists but as someone who has worked on population dynamics of infection & immunity for 20 years I felt hopeless to see herd immunity threshold (HIT) concept degenerating in front of my eyes during pandemic. Thread

A well-researched piece on the very 'non-apocalyptic side' of the spectrum. @dwallacewells would have been slaughtered had he written this a few months ago (he could have - the data was there). Now, he should largely get away with it. The world is healing. https://t.co/00n86ehojC

Being able to protect yourself from #COVID19 is a privilege. 1) Job allows for remote work 2) Can isolate from others in household if needed 3) Can order everything needed--voila it shows up at your house How about supporting policies that don't just reinforce your privilege?

It feels at times as if the enlightenment age never happened. In many ways, our response to #COVID19 seems to me not that different from our ancestors' reaction to the Black Death, with its toxic mix of superstition, millenarianism, dogma, fear, anger and ostracism. 2/
