thinking about how the Phantom demands the opera pay him 20,000 francs a month a month which is something in the range of $100,000 a month in todays currency which raises the question of what the fuck he spends it on considering he lives in the walls and doesnt pay rent
the idea that serial killers are all masterminds and the only reason they escape police is because theyre geniuses is a lie perpetuated by law enforcement to cover up that serial killers dont get caught bcs cops trust white men and dont care about the lives of sex workers
he looks like a woman at a farmers market who knows an insane amount about the healing properties of honey and is going through an extremely acrimonious divorce
people on twitter love to log in and say some shit like "if you like found family tropes just say your parents never got you the hamster you wanted when u were six" like what the fuck are you talking about sigmand fraud
here's a hard truth: just because you are writing about something upsetting and gritty and traumatic does not automatically mean your writing is good and doesnt immediately make it more worthwhile than someone writing about cute domestic fluff and you are not immune to criticism.
stories about cops like the ones who turned over one of jeffrey dahmer's victims back to him dont happen bcs those killers are charming geniuses they happen bcs cops dont value the lives of anyone but white men
i clicked on this video and it turned out he was talking about spec ops: the line and the first thing he said was "on the main menu you see an American flag, normally a sign that the good guys are here... but somethings different" and then i immediately closed the tab
ALL british food is like a giant hunk of processed meat wrapped in bread where the history is like "the working class ate this to not die in the mines" or like some kind of weird boiled cake called like "dead mans penis" or some shit
John Boyega: haha Finn and Rey are gonna bang
reylos who want Rey to be a 19 year old housewife and view her sole purpose as being a tool to redeem Kylo with no desires or agency of her own: this .... is peak misogyny
shapiro getting furious about glass onion and saying it doesnt make any sense that miles would be a parody of elon musk because musk is actually so smart and successful is hysterical. its like watching a cat hissing at its own reflection.
>hbomb has a new video
oh great love him
>it's about this youtuber who plagiarizes everything
wow crazy i bet it'll be fun to see that takedown
>the yotuber is James Somerton who you have followed forever and love

the pilot episode of Interview With the Vampire is one of the greatest pilots in TV history and should be more widely acknowledged as such. it is an astonishing pilot and also independently a perfect 60 minute short horror film. you could see just that and be satisfied.
people being like "why did they cast someone so unknown as the doctor" look me in the eye and tell me youd heard of matt smith before he was the doctor. the biggest thing david tennant had done was be in a single harry potter film for ten minutes.
it's streaming exclusively on sproing. you can watch it if you have a subscription to flipbz. it's on nubi with ads. and you can check out lornk. its on scurm. do you have gribble? or keplf? what about cvernc. have you checked out urip. what about melk.
disney were really like ok we're adapting Fraction's Hawkeye a series that relies on the fact that Hawkeye is an ordinary guy but hes so charming and sincere you love him despite his flaws. we have cast the most uncharismatic and least likeable actor we could find.
i feel like the question "how can Jigsaw justify creating torture traps based on this incomprehensible moral philosophy" can be very easily answered by the fact he has a tumour the size of a baseball in his brain
Stephen King saying that he thinks Alien is misogynistic (in his 1981 nonfiction book Danse Macabre) because Ripley takes her shirt off at the end of the film is the funniest thing in the world considering every one of his books has a detailed description of every woman's nipples
all the comedians crying and pissing and shitting their pants about the idea they don't live in an entirely consequence free universe where they get to ridicule people forever but no one is allowed to dislike them or be mean to them ever
i wont lie i cannot criticise marvels new gay spider-man character. this design is unbelievably fucking good and the fact hes canonically a bitch is great. i also think it’s great when femme gay men get to be heroes and not jokes. the mega corporation lives this time.
the golden globes suck shit this year but at least bill hader got nominated so there'll be new photos of him looking insanely uncomfortable on the red carpet and standing like a Muppet someone propped up with a rake
Our Flag Means Death surpassed demand for Euphoria this week, becoming the most in-demand show across all HBO and HBO Max series in the United States.
Pretty good for a show with very little pre-launch marketing.
worst people:
-people who make dramatic posts about their right to be 30 and into fandom and how teenagers are just too mean
-people who make posts about how we need more male friendships in things so guys know its not gay to have friends
Alex Wolff wants to partner with one of his “best friends” and “one of the most loyal people in [his] life,” Nicolas Cage, on his next directing effort
girlies who love to have 500 tabs open will tell you about it all the time but us who love closing tabs and never have a lot of tabs open are expected to live in silence
Eddie and Richie make one of those "celebrities you can fuck and its not cheating" lists and Eddie puts Bill Hader on his and Richie is like what the fuck why that guy and thats like the only one he gets insecure about bcs hes worried Eddie thinks Bill Hader is funnier than him
if your response every time someone says they don't like your work is "they just can't handle reading about real stuff like abuse or trauma or edgy things" you are basically using the "lol are you triggered?" defense to avoid confronting failures in your writing.
will never ever forget my friends from school went to see this and one of them cheered when robert pattinson died bcs she was an edward cullen hater and was shocked when she got booed in the theatre because she didn't know 9/11 was real
smth thats explicit in IT the novel is that the losers start dressing like their kid selves when they go back to derry. in the film this is less obvious w/ characters like bill whose clothes are kinda normal but more obvious w/ richie and eddie who have more distinct styles BUT -
the middle of the biggest viral epidemic and one of the biggest movements for Black civil rights and JK Rowling is using her platform to be transphobic on main. she could really use her immense wealth and power to help people but... no... shes gonna use it to be a bigot
we really do NOT talk enough about how celebrity news would go insane if super famous bestselling author and screenwriter Bill Denbrough left his famous actress wife Audra Phillips for some random librarian like im just imagining celebrity magazines with covers saying WHAT?
accept these things to be true:
-you are not immune to criticism
-criticism is useful
-dark fic is not immediately better or more worthwhile than a coffeeshop au. it isnt necessarily worth anything.
-people being hurt by what you wrote doesnt make them wrong
-you can do better.
it's so funny that everyone INCLUDING ME saw the Beau is Afraid poster and trailer and was like wow did they use de-aging tech on Joaquin Phoenix but it's actually a real kid who just looks a freakish amount like Joaquin Phoenix
if you want to look at it in the least emotional way possible, we'll call a character being abused "a plot point". if you were watching a film where a lot of time was spent lavishing attention and time on a plot point only for it to have no payoff, would you call that film good?
i hate that actors in movies dont look normal anymore. everyone looks like a sexless perfect statue and its warping peoples brains to the point where they see someone who looks regular and theyre like "that person is hideous". its maddening
you can write about dark, upsetting, gritty topics and do it badly. thats just a fact. i understand having someone criticising your work can be difficult to take, but if you care as much about your writing as you claim to, its actually your job to see when criticism is important.
i understand a lot of us spent time on Tumblr where the idea of writing about anything gritty at all, even with as much taste and decency as possible, was treated as a moral failing, but the inverse of "i should write whatever i want and get no criticism" isn't true either
watching saw x for some reason it was unbelievably funny to just see john kramer like. doing normal stuff. like just being a regular old man. they need to do that with more killers i want to see jason's chill day off
choosing to write about abuse instead of domestic fluff is not a higher calling. you are not inherently more in-tune with human nature. you are not automatically understanding of psychology. your work has a niche audience and is harder to do well but so does a comedy parody song.
"there's so many movies right now about how bad rich people are" wow crazy. i wonder what is happening culturally to inspire this. anyway im watching a bunch of 70s films and i better not see anything influenced by the vietnam war or ill heap my fucking lid
the agendas of horror movies this year is you CANNOT trust trans masc teenagers with artefacts of the dead because they will find way to ruin parties with them
Moffat writing anything: ok so the main character is this guy whos so fucking cool and dark and sexy and all the women want to fuck him and all the guys are insanely jealous of him and theres one special woman whos super badass and can only be tamed by his manliness. god im smart
if someone is telling you your work promotes abuse or homophobia etc, instead of getting defensive, maybe consider that you are not incapable of being wrong. it sucks to hear, i know, welcome to the human race.
