AI is causing a race to the bottom on both sides of hiring. We need to bring back genuine human connection in this process. 1️⃣ Job Posters: Hand craft your job descriptions and make them unique 2️⃣ Job Appliers: Answer application questions honestly and with your own text

The recruiting environment has changed significantly since the last time I did a hire... feels like 95%+ of the application questions are ChatGPT generated... after trashing hundreds of applications, the real answers start to stand out. But still time consuming to work through.

What is it with software vendors this year? So many deprecations and upgrades needed.

This is the best explanation of the difference between the two loops I have seen.

If you look for ways to be annoyed, you will find limitless examples. You can choose to seek inspiration instead. #growthmindset #ReticularActivatingSystem

The fix was just to upgrade Docker to 20.10.10 or newer. Our server was running Docker 20.10.9 so we were literally off by one. TL;DR; If you wanna be a software engineer, this kinda stuff is pretty much par for the course. You gotta embrace it!

This week my team hit an issue with Docker where a container / JVM would not start due to "insufficient memory". We chased many rabbit holes trying to fix it with no luck.

Claim: "Pair programming replaces code reviews" Are you willing to drive across a bridge that was never inspected just because two people built it instead of one? I'm not. An outside review is critical, even if 2+ people built it together. Outsiders see things builders miss.

It was a really big day for the team @flexrental …. After a grueling 4.5 year rewrite effort, our old Flash UI has been retired!! 🎉 Flash put us on the map as a company and served us for 13 years. RIP Flash. Couldn’t be more excited about what the future has in store for us!

Being nervous is a good thing if it can serve as a catalyst for us to prepare, to improve, to attain the level of competency we feel necessary. we can turn that into a strength.

The edge is in the inputs. The person who consumes from better sources, gets better thoughts. The person who asks better questions, gets better answers. The person who builds better habits, gets better results. It's not the outcomes. It's the inputs.
