We measure partisan slant in 21 US news outlets. NPR (index score 1.0) is balanced in valence of mentions of political actors, compared to Fox (1.6, right) and WPost (1.4, left). PBS (1.2) was at the mean. Overall, we find US public media is less "biased.".

We need MORE not less public funding for NPR & PBS (US public media receive a tiny fraction of the funding of their global peers). Surveys show high levels of public trust; research proves the high quality of their journalism. This would be a tremendous loss for US democracy.
