it’s a perspective thing. different eras bring different facets out of people, but the passage of time is uniform, and so it’s easy to understand our past-selves as less mature, less lived, because it is true! happier older people seem to be more carefree. not careless — free
@rodguze is it ever really an age thing, or are we just constantly more careless throughout our lives then we care to admit until those immature moments have long passed and we no longer feel like our current selves are responsible for them
