The trash talking/dugout chirping is soooo tired. Imagine if all the coaches policed it for a year or two. I'd bet the behavior would change. Any coaches willing to join me in stopping this?
Players, go watch college baseball in person this weekend. Show up early to BP and In/Out. Get close to the field and see how big, strong, fast these guys are. And then get back to work.
Uncommitted 2021 grads. You have learned that life isn't fair. What are you going to do about it? D2, D3, NAIA & JuCo has some REALLY good baseball programs if you are serious about playing in college.
Disturbing trend I’m hearing with HS aged players - Travel coaches saying “If you leave our team, I’ll bad mouth you to all the colleges.” You people should be ashamed of yourselves!
Player Secret

- find a summer coach who will actually coach and develop you. You don’t need a cheerleader or hype man. You need someone who will work to make you better and prepare you for college.
Parents should stay away from the dugout. Why? It paints the picture that either a) the player can't plan properly to bring enough water, Gatorade, etc. or b) the parent feels the need to coach the player. Neither is a good look. Let him grow! Exceptions for injury, etc.
🚨Recruiting Reality🚨 Coaches don’t always show up wearing their logos. Sometimes they want to be in disguise to see how you really play the game. Someone is always watching. Remember that.
If your summer coach can’t/doesn’t/won’t help you get better, what are you doing? There are so many non-baseball people in travel baseball now, it is scary.
Want to play in college? This time of year always reminds me of key advice - you HAVE to love the game. early work, breakfast, classes, lunch, practice, lift, dinner, study hall & then extra work. That's your life in college.
🚨Recruiting Reality🚨
Summer Baseball is here. Show up ready. Warm up with intent. Play with a sense of urgency. Be a leader. Communicate. Hustle. Compete. Be a great teammate. Give a college coach a reason to notice you
🚨Recruiting Reality🚨 Players, you need to be more interested in how you play rather than how you look. I don't see any college players wearing hoodies under their jerseys or towels in their back pockets or sliding mitts in their pockets on defense. Focus on being better.
Most HS kids have zero concept of what competing at the college level is like. You have to prove yourself EVERY. DAY. and in every way. If you make the game all about you, you will not last in college baseball. Coaches do not have time for pouting because you made an error.
A secret for all you players...get really good at the boring stuff. Make the routine plays, throw to a target, proper footwork, have a consistent load & footwork at the plate, run hard every time out of the box...these will make you better & you will always stand out & win.
Anti-transfer portal guys, a lot of the players were told they won't play or aren't wanted. What else are they supposed to do? And don't comeback with "they shouldn't commit in 9th grade". Many of them did not.
🚨Recruiting Reality🚨 26-28 grads need to be focused on getting bigger, faster, stronger & better. Colleges are focusing on 24's & 25's. 26-28s need to surround themselves with the best possible coaching to give feedback, advice & direction.
If any players or coaches are depressed from COVID & need someone to talk to, slide into my DMs. I'm finding a lot of people are dealing with "stuff". I'm here for you!
Players, don't get caught up in these All-Tourney/Pre-season All-American lists. NO ONE CARES. College coaches sure don't. No one will remember any of it when the season starts. Keep getting better physically and mentally every single day.
🚨Recruiting Reality🚨 2025's, today is your day. I hope you have a list of questions for coaches. Take time to get them answered. Find the right place, not just A place. If coaches don't call, keep working & market yourself. You only need 1 school to find you "pretty"
🚨 Recruiting Reality🚨 When you play for your teammates rather than just for yourself, you will see a jump in your game. You will lead. You will be more consistent because you focus less on results. You will be better. Try it. Trust me.
🚨Recruiting Reality🚨 Parents, don't be a reason why your son isn't recruited. Yelling at umps, coaching from the stands, talking poorly of other players, etc. are all reasons your son gets ❌off a list. Coaches sit in the stands to listen to you. Happens all the time.
🚨RECRUITING REALITY🚨 If you don't love to work away from scheduled practices (weight room, cage, bullpen, etc.), you won't excel in college. You will dislike your experience and likely quit. I'd rather save you the heartache by being upfront. You have to really love it.
Another secret for players - you're not considered a good hitter unless you can hit a good fastball. If you can't, you won't play at the next level. Don't miss fastballs!
🚨RECRUITING REALITY🚨 I'll tell you the truth that most people won't...there is NOT a place for everyone to play. You have to be REALLY good and LOVE to play the game. You can't go through the motions in HS and then play in college. It doesn't work that way.
HS & youth players, it ABSOLUTELY matters who you play with. There is ZERO reason a kid should be throwing 99 pitches in December tourney. Surround yourself with the right coaches.
My previous tweet re: spam tagging college coaches simply pointed to the problem. I want to be part of the solution. Here are some of my tips for travel coaches to help promote their players.
🚨Recruiting Reality🚨 HS players, stop worrying about being “embarrassed” by bad swings, bad calls, getting out, etc. What should be embarrassing is when you negatively react to the adversity.
Players, please stop reacting to bad strike calls while hitting. Yes, we saw it. Yes, it will happen again. No, your coaches don't care...only your parents do. Your reaction tells me that you likely won't flush it before the next pitch.
Freshmen ⚾️ entering the portal…you won’t likely find another D1 home immediately. Go build a resume and then try again later. Some of you need better advice. 🤦🏻♂️
🚨Recruiting Reality🚨 Fielders, coaches can tell if you can play by watching you field 2-3 GBs in between innings. That's the amount of time you have to get a ✅ or ❌. Don't miss the opportunity. Do it right every time.
Players, here is a challenge for you. Let's see if you can go the entire winter without posting video of you "grinding" in the weight room or in the cage. Save it and show off when the spring and summer comes.
🚨Recruiting Reality🚨 HS players, clean up your body language. It’s the easiest way to get crossed off recruiting lists. Why would a college coach want that? They can go get a portal dude who deals better with adversity.
Way too many kids/parents have FOMO. That's the only way to explain playing for multiple teams & playing every weekend, right? Why not develop a plan and stick with it?

staff and team has outstanding culture and commitment to excellence on and off the field. Proud of this special group!
I've seen a lot of people justify a bat flip bc a pitcher's animated actions (& vice versa). I'll offer another argument - who cares what the other guy does? If you worry about the actions of others in in real life, you're going to be miserable. Worry about you.
🚨Recruiting Reality🚨 Players, don't focus on rankings. Don't compare yourself to others. Run your race and make yourself as good as possible. Bsb skills, strength, speed, decision-making, mental game. Be elite in everything you do & things will work out fine.
Baseball is so much like life. One day you crush it (5 HRs) and the next day you get crushed (no hit). Get up the next day and expect to dominate. It builds character.
🚨Recruiting Reality🚨 Coaches want to see you at your worst so they know your character. How do you act when you are 0-4? Anybody can be a great teammate when you are 4-4.
🚨Recruiting Reality🚨 Treat pregame like the game itself. Prepare. Focus. Have a routine. College coaches watch you stretch, catch play, long toss, GBs & FBs, etc. to see how much you care & know about the game. Do you love the game? These are ?s coaches need to answer.
HS Players, you have an opportunity to get better this month. Don't take it off like a lot of players do! You can make important gains while others are taking a break.
Players - to move to the next level, you have to get really good at the "boring" things. Make the routine plays. Be consistent. These have to be embraced to advance. If you can't do them in HS, college doesn't want you.
🚨Recruiting Reality🚨 Players, schools want guys who can win. If you can't help them win, they don't want you. Become a winner in everything you do. Be the best son, best student, best person, best player. Life is a competition. Learn how to win.
HS players you HAVE to get in the weight room if you plan to play in college. I saw 50+ guys today and only a handful were close to being physical. Bigger, faster, stronger.
🚨RECRUITING REALITY🚨 Hitters, your exit velo is 95+ off a tee? Cool. Let's see how many balls you square up when the opposing pitcher is 90+ and there is a defense. That's how you prove you are a dude.
It was so refreshing to play a good team who didn’t chirp yesterday. We didn’t play well but the other team talked to their guys. It was nice to play a well coached team.
"If you're results driven, if you care about your results, and you're losing sleep over results, you won't perform in this game."
Jonathan India hit .202 in June. But he started July with a grand slam. A good minute with India after today's game.

🚨Recruiting Reality🚨 College coaches are out in full force. How are you getting noticed? Good body language. Handling failure. Hustling. Hitting balls hard. Executing pitch by pitch. Just a few ways you can.
🚨Recruiting Reality🚨 Players, learn how to communicate better. Having a difficult convo is part of life, including college baseball. Practice by having convos with adults and using proper language. You've grown up texting and it's hindered your ability to communicate.
Rarely does baseball work out as you plan. You don’t win every game but you bust your butt every time to give yourself the best chance. Don’t take it for granted. It will be gone before you know it.
🚨Recruiting Reality🚨 3 reasons to attend a college camp: 1) Be discovered by them - but you have to be really good (if not, don't go) 2) Establish/continue a relationship with the staff. If they've shown interest previously, go to learn more. 3) Get instruction.
🚨Recruiting Reality🚨 Players, stay off the Results Rollercoaster - super high when you go 3-3 and super low when you go 0-3. Get your head right and your game will follow.
🚨Recruiting Reality🚨 College coaches watch everything you do! How do you talk to your parents, coaches & teammates? How do you act in the dugout? Do your teammates like you? Do you look your coach in the eyes? Are you coachable?
🚨Recruiting Reality🚨 Players, when you make an error, don't crawl into a shell. Don't say "my bad". Everyone knows you screwed up & no one feels sorry for you. Make the next play. Show you can handle and process failure.
Players/parents, wanna know what gets a college coach's attention? Being really good, always in the right spot, great body language, making teammates better, leadership, eye contact when coach talks, doing your job, hustling...just a few
So proud of our
@TheCanesBB
2026 National team. Talented, tough, resilient, coachable, hard-working & determined. In the playoffs, they ran the gauntlet of the best teams in our age group, going 11-0. Congrats to our guys for winning the WWBA.
